Connecting through a proxy

Is it safe for me to connect to the Internet thru a proxy? For example, if I login to my email account and that internet connection is connected thru a proxy, will my email login password be safe? Thx.

    Of course. The more proxies you can use, the better it is for you from a safety and privacy perspective.

    Actually, my concern is whether will a hacker or someone who is setting up the proxy be able to access my password information? This is bcoz as I am connecting to the proxy, I am worried that my login details can be seen by whoever who is managing the proxy.

      Of course there is always risks like that. Nothing is ever 100% safe. But, so far there have no major issues with proxy providers that I have heard of. Make sure you go with an established and a reputed proxy provider with good reviews and customer satisfaction.

      As long as you are using a secured and a well-known proxy service, you don't have to worry, but still, logging in emails, social and payment accounts are not recommended through proxies (just to keep things on a more safe side)

      Indeed so.

      It's clearly taking an additional risk.

      Call me naive, but why would anyone want to use a proxy service to check their email?

    Alexa... if can, I choose not to check my email thru a proxy server. However, as I am planning to connect thru the proxy server for other internet marketing purpose, and due limitation in the number of PC and router in my network, as I am doing my IM things, I will need to check my email from time to time.
