People paying monthly fees but not engaging with content

Hello Warriors,

I have a friend with major email lists and lots of people paying $47-77/month for various recurring webinars with top experts in their fields.

He wants to find new ways to get people who are paying to watch more of the classes they are paying for anyway so that they stay as customers longer.

Can you make suggestions or point me to quality content on this topic that someone has already posted to the forum?

Thank you!

Maybe these webinars are repetitive, boring and about topics the the members may already know something about. So, the only advice would be to add some sizzle into the mix and mix it up a bit and try to be more engaging and exciting. Even if it is presenting the same material you can add couple of small added details that help the material stand out and grab attention.

Also, then again there is a shelf life for members and memberships as well, they are not going to stay members forever either. So, be aware of the average member's membership duration and cycle your content around that time frame.

I can see why you might think that after reading my post, but the content is of the highest quality. You're right that member duration isn't forever.

This is an interesting topic. But I always find it interesting that there are people who will happily invest their hard earned money into something that can potentially help them out then not use it to their full potential.
As fcf360 suggested. Add some jazz to the webinars. maybe offer a prize or additional help at the end of the webinar. Something that will assist them with their business?
of course offer new material. Could the webinar be done on a different location? Outdoors?
I hope this gave you a few ideas
    all the best

Maybe those people watch only the parts that suit or interest them? Maybe they are procrastinators who plan to watch the classes 'later'.

If they are paying anyway - why does he want to force behavior? It's possible in trying to push paying customers to "do more" or "participate more" he might have customers decide to drop out when before they were happily paying every month.

Would be better to focus his efforts on getting new customers instead.

You're right, Kay King. There is a chance of losing people who are paying by reminding them that they are paying. I guess the question is whether enough people stay longer because they are now more engaged too offeset that effect.

What he can do is ....

Every time he emails his list with a Product Offer - it should be a Capture Page that leads to the sales page.

This is a simple technique called the 'Sandwich' Strategy.

You can implement this with all the affiliate products you promote.

What you do is create a landing page with an opt-in form - so they will have to enter their email first in order to buy.

The key to make this help you build a BUYERS LIST.

So you will need to be VERY CLEAR on the message on the landing page with the opt-in form.

Make sure it is clear to them that they should only opt-in if they are going to buy the product for sure!

That way you will be able to build a separate list which will consist on only buyers!

    As for the engagement ....

The best way to get more engagement from people - is to truly build a solid relationship with them first before you ask them to engage. They don't engage so much because they are simply shy and are not comfortable opening up to your friend.

In order for them to engage more, they have to feel more comfortable, and in order for them to feel more comfortable sharing stuff with you, they have to trust you first!

You also need to work on the type of content you want them to engage in. If the content is not good engagement, and you are doing it wrong, then of course you are going to struggle a bit.

    I hope this helps!

I wish you both the best of the best!

    Cheers!

A few, really simple methods (K.I.S.S. after all..) would be to have them on the same date each month, like new videos on the 10th every month.

Also, 3 emails seem to be the trick for getting your message out there to an email list and since he's doing webinars, he should be doing a 'what to expect', 'reminder' and preferably a 'replay' to get the most engagement.

Having a reminder an hour or half hour or even just a few minutes before helps get a couple more people on the call too... a lot of times, people forget.

From there, it's all about what's in it for the prospect and are they getting something they want from that particular webinar. Imagined if you signed up for webinars about nutrition and the next one is about broccoli which you're allergic to in this example... then you wouldn't attend a webinar about broccoli recipes, because it's not exactly what you're interested in...next one potatoes? forget it... next one cabbage, you're mysteriously in!

He should see which topics are getting the best attention, and focus on finding his average membership lifetime and then working towards extending it by moving some of that more appealing content back a little to make it more appealing to stick around. After all... if the first three videos were great, we'd all stick around for more cabbage!
