Content marketing for slideshare?

Part of my content marketing strategy I'm working on incorporates slideshare for applicable content. I've seen a number of these pop up on blog articles in place of images.
Is there a good strategy for promoting these slideshows? Let's say I design one on making more friends. Is it logical to then promote this to relevant blogs as a suggestion for their upcoming blogs? Or even as a possible addition to an existing blog post? Let's say I notice they did a blog post titled 'Are you struggling to make new friends?' and this was posted 6-12 months ago. I could suggest my slideshow as a way of repurposing their content.
