How easy is it to make money on WordPress

I have a new wordpres site and I want it to do two things, I think... I want it to first off advertise my website in the sig below, secondly I think I want it to sell a product. Is wordpress a good place to sell?

      I am a newbie and recently setup a Wordpress blog that strictly listed about ten Twitter products avail. via Clickbank. I setup the blog such that I was reviewing the products, one of which was free; and included a pic with a small summary for each. When users clicked on a blog post, they were taken to the landing page provided by Clickbank. Needless to say, my blog was up one day before Wordpress shut it down.

      I thought I'd done all correct, however, I quickly learned where I erred. I setup my Wordpress blog, and then purchased a separate domain name. I paid $9.97 for an upgrade on Wordpress to have my domain name mapped to the Wordpress blog.

      So, all content was hosted with Wordpress, and this is where I made the mistake. Obviously, I need to use a webhost for my content, not Wordpress. At the same time, I'm reading now on how to utilize Wordpress solely as the "delivery medium" that healymedia talks about... I'm still not clear on this....

        Yes definitely try to host your own websites if you can through companies like Hostgator etc. You'll be better off in the long run.

    Healymedia has covered Wordpress on your own site but you're talking about a blog on Wordpress.com you can't use it for selling. It will be removed in double quick time if/when they spot it.

    If you want to sell your own product you will just need a salespage theme and paypal button... I use Rapid Action Profits and I link straight from Wordpress to RAP. RAP takes care of payment and product delivery....you also don't have to create any separate html pages outside of Wordpress and RAP...

    wordpress is good for seo, better keep your wp in a sub directory called /blog and try to promote products on your main ecommerce site with your blog.
