Hello Warriors,

I have been lurking for a while and enjoy reading all your advice and posts. I am hoping some of you will have some advice for me. I've been writing online for 4 years now and mostly exist from writing keyword articles and web content in general. I am moving to a hot tourist destination in the next couple of weeks and would like to capitalize on that by writing articles and such about the place. I've thought about selling PLR packages of articles but I'm not sure if there would be a market for that. So the question is, if you were moving to or already living in a hot tourist destination, how would you capitalize on that? By the way, I am moving there in order to write about it so I'm not looking to make a quick buck. In addition, it's truly a great place to live so I will be there for some time. Anyway, I would appreciate any advice you care to give me. I'm also thinking about selling some items on ebay from this destination. Any ideas as far as Internet marketing and writing? Thanks all.

    hi

do a blog from the perspective of "someone one the scene"

like tv news "reporting live from".....

that fact that you live there should add to your credibility, and open you to questions from your readers.

you could the also include interesting events and news to give it a more human touch

    just my 0.02c...

Thanks. I do want to start a blog and have a really informative and useful site. I was also thinking maybe I might be able to sell some local items on ebay or something like that. Mostly, I want to write about the area from an insider's point of view and offer real information to visitors. This place has a huge search results list in google but almost all of the sites are just advertisements for hotels and venues without providing any real info. That is what I hope to capitalize on.

    Hi there,

What about selling your articles to newspapers, magazines and travel websites?

They are always after new content and if you can give them some great info on the area they would be interested.

What if you thought "journalist" instead of or as well as "marketer"?

    All the best

    Jason

If this is a hot tourist destination then surely there are a number of searches daily for businesses and attractions for the city/area which means you can ultimately create a site with many pages targetting specific key phrases all based on the main site theme.

Lets say this area you are talking about is Hawaii (just as an example).

You get a handy domain name like OnlineGuideToHawaii.com. Your site will be themed around Hawaii with pages of your site dedicated to key phrases like Hawaii restaraunts, Hawaii hotels, Hawaii islands, Hawaii schools, Hawaii night clubs, Hawaii vacations etc.

This allows you to create a keyword rich site that search engines will love. You could scale this up by approaching the local businesses for advertising, partnering with local travel agents on a pay per lead agreement.

There will also be a number of shops and businesses with no website - this is where you can step in and introduce them to the online world and create a website for them.

Usually I tell people to focus on particular niche however if you are talking about a hot spot then it will lend itself well to this kind of approach assuming you are able to carry out the required tasks.

    Good luck!

BTW here is a site that does just what I describe above. Notice how the menu breaks the site down to specific key phrases related to the main site theme. (Not my site).

      Hi elogan,

(Along the lines of what (ahem) netpiddler said above)

Build a site around the area you will live in.

Combine work with your likely urge to explore and learn - take lots of photos (good for image search traffic - brand the pics with your url).

Write as much as you can about the place, try to create an authority site on the area.

Establish what people search for online in that area and research the most lucrative businesses there too and establish the best way to monetise the site (most likely selling advertising/lead generation).

Wow, what great advice! Netpiddler, I had thought about a blog but I love your idea of having pages dedicated to certain venues as there are plenty of them. I also want to be able to go to shows and such and review them.

Jason, newspapers, travel websites, and maybe even magazines would be great!

    Branson, here I come!
