Should I give my affiliates a free copy of my book?

So I've heard a lot of mixed things about promoting a book with affiliates. I've heard only a small percent actually sell any copies. I'm pretty new to internet marketing and learning a lot as I go.

I am using JVZoo. I have quite a few affiliates for my ebook from my posting on Muncheye and similar launch sites. I've had a few reviews/posts about the book, but nothing major.

I am sharing my book for free for a limited time with Warriors as a WSO.

Should I also message my JVZoo affiliates a link to the download? I would message them on the site itself probably, not their e-mails.

I don't want to completely devalue this book by making it available for free to everyone. But, I am happy that people who can learn from it get it for free for a limited time.

Thanks,

-Ben

I think you should give out a few free copies to the affiliates you think will make some sales for you. They will have a better understanding of what they are promoting and really talk your book up if they like it.

I think it's probably right to err on the side of saying "yes": you'll want to avoid people buying it to take a quick look and then refunding?

Presumably you already know not to allow affiliates "instant commissions"? That opens the door to various accidents.

Actually can you elaborate on the Bold part above? I'm launching my first "major" WSO this month (in sig) but before that I've been an Affiliate and I'd say around 90% of the time I've received Instant Commissions. When I make a sale and the buyer requests a refund from the Vendor, I have to return the funds initially paid to me for the sale and I know that's just how it goes. But is this what you are referring to as "various accidents"? Because I was going to give instant commissions to my affiliates but your post has me thinking twice...

I think it would be a better idea to create a short version of your ebook geared towards affiliates so they can share it with their list for instance and add their affiliate link in it (at the bottom for instance).

I think that's a good technique to get affiliates on board that want to mail for you.

Thank you all for the input.

I'm going to do some combination of giving away the full book, and having a smaller book made.

Maybe you can share one of the best part in your ebook and later if they decided to read more, you could sale it. If your not comfortable selling it, i suggest you to ask them to share link to their social media in exchange for download link.

Maybe the best solution is selling the review at a very low price or give it to an authority blogger!

Personally, I would happily offer to give out free review copies provided that they reach out to me. If they are keen to know what it's about and approve, they will be more confident to sell your stuff.
