How should I promote my new ebook? Feeling stuck.

Hi,

I'm fairly new to internet marketing and am very open to advice.

First, a little background on the product. I created my e-book. It is basically 2 parts: the process of creating a website without needing to code, and links to 90 useful resources. I cover a variety of topics from picking a niche to selecting a web host to creating content. It's just shy of 40 pages. It is a great resource for people who want a new hobby and want an all-in-one guide. The book is a combination of what I've learned from building my own sites and from reading online.

Initially, I thought it would be a good idea (and it might still be) to promote with affiliates. I posted on sites like Muncheye and other launch calanders to let interested affiliates know my product is on JVZoo. I got some affiliates and set up delayed payments for them.

I give a 60% commission on the $9.97 front end, and 30% on the $79 coaching back end offer.

Now, to get some buzz for the book at launch, to see what people think, to give back a little, and to build a small e-mail list, I made a WSO for a freebie for Warriors. I'm also pointing some of my affiliates towards this freebie. I'm hoping this will draw in new affiliates, and encourage some affiliates to send out my offer to their lists.

I like the idea of solo ads a lot, but I'm concerned that offer won't convert well. I'm not explicitly giving people a way to make money in the book, which seems to be what solo offers often do. Yet, I do have information about making money online in the book. I'm thinking of making this chapter the free e-mail opt-in on my squeeze page, rather than my current niche chapter giveaway (thoughts?).

Another thing that deters me from solos is that it seems to make between 1% and 5% of front end sales. So, because my product is only $10, if I order 100 clicks for about $100 or slightly less, I don't nearly make what I spend. Maybe for a $50 product it would make sense.

I'm not super into the idea of guest or personal blogging right now. I have not yet posted much on forums related to WordPress/websites, so maybe that. I definitely don't want to give up on this project and move on to something entirely new, but I'm open to related ideas.

I'm curious what some Warriors think might be a good plan forward.

Thank you for your help.

-Ben

Why don't use Facebook ads for promoting your product. Basically you have to know what your audience and target them. There are many good Facebook courses that available. I will pm you if I about few that I know. Basically, try promoting it to your friends and forum bout your product. You might use squeeze page to capture your lead. I don't know much but Solo Ads, some might be work for you and may not. I prefer fb ads first. That my opinion only

Or you can use Bing ads as well. You test it through PPC - and it lets you know how well it converts or not. Then if you're satisfied with EPC - you can contact some affiliates to promote it for you. It helps if you promoted other people's stuff so you can ask them to help you out.

    Hi Ben,

It sounds like you have a fantastic product!

If you are not really into the idea of blogging, and using a website to build up your following, then you may have to either use just paid ads, or use a platform to sell your front-end book which has organic traffic - such as Amazon, Smashwords or the like.

I would be careful with paid ads because as you say, it is not an expensive up-front product, and even with cheap forms of paid advertising such as solo ads, you are going to struggle to break even.

To be honest, if I was in your shoes, I would put the book on Amazon Kindle first, and then seed the back-end offer in the book itself. You will get some good sales on Kindle, simply because of the amount of organic traffic that Amazon gets; and you can be building your own list whilst your product is selling.

That way, you can monetise what you already have, whilst you are building up your list and your business.

One more point - pretty much EVERY successful small online business has a blog of some sort... So I would avoid leaving out a blog from your website altogether. You can outsource the writing of the actual blog articles if necessary!

    Hope that helps
