Budget Facebook Ad Strategies

So since I have never placed ads on Facebook before, I want to start out something small and check out the conversion rates before I spend a lot of money. I narrowed down to an "interest" where I'll only be reaching about 280 people (but seems quite targeted). Am I approaching this the right way? Any advice?

    If you cant' afford $5 to test it, THEN DON'T TEST IT.

    If you can afford $5 to test it, THEN TEST IT!
