Do Usenet forums still exist?

Since Altavista's demise I really haven't had any use for newsgroups. I haven't even checked since Netscape busted - I really liked N's email client and how it worked for subscribing to groups. The worst thing about it was when I was really interested in learning how to make money online the groups that I subscribed to were loaded with spammers. Almost like my yahoo inbox.

So I guess what I wanted to know was if it still existed and does anyone here still market there?

they're still there. Get a Usenet newsgroups reader. Also, you can search them (post too) through Google groups. Google groups covers the Usenet.

Usenet is alive and well. It's just not available from most ISPs. You sign up with a Usenet provider. I use PowerUsenet. Spam is still a problem, but easily dealt with. You just have to spend some time setting filters and everything is fine. Usenet is hugely popular with Europeans, mostly German, Dutch and French, so you have to be aware of language differences.

The best part is the download speeds. It completely maxes out your bandwidth.

      There's about 80,000 newsgroups active.

I tell people all the time that Usenet as well as the rest of the groups accessible on Google Groups are a literal goldmine for content research as well article ideas.

Also, when it comes to finding experts on a subject, you will often still find them posting on Usenet. It is such a valuable tool!
