How do you know if RSSBot worked?

I finally got hold of some automation software. It is AWESOME. I have a question, though.

I opened RSS Bot, added the feeds to four sites, and clicked submit. It went through all the sites - I entered the capchas where needed.

I hand picked a couple of those RSS sites and searched for my feeds. I couldnt find one feed that I submitted. How do I know if it worked? How long until the feeds start to appear in those RSS dirs.?

Shouldn't take more than a day. If it does, I wouldn't say something didn't work.

You better hope that the software doesn't leave any footprints. I know for a fact that many times when automation software comes to market there's some footprints like useragent etc. and after site admins get pissed off to automated submissions, they start to ignore or even worse, ban sites based on submissions.

I don't want to scare you, just heads up that you shouldn't even use old software to important sites.

The thing about RSS submissions is that it's a one time deal. If you make a mistake or change the model of your site later on then you can not edit those feeds unless you actually created accounts at those sites.

Personally I prefer to submit mine manually, now before you say "yeah but that takes time" take this into consideration.

1. Without an account you can not manage or edit your feeds
2. Creating an account at some of these rss directories will allow you to also create a profile, make friends and etc.. There are some RSS directories that have web 2.0 features.
3. It's a one-time shot deal, takes only a few sec to post an rss feed.
4. If you sell the site the new owner can not manage or edit the feed if he needs to do so.. He is just screwed and can not submit to that Rss Directory.

Sites like RSSMountain - RSS Feed Directory - RSS Feed Search Engine allows account creation which i great because I have thousands of feeds that I can manage all from one account.

Also note some Rss Directories require approval before your feed shows, so they may not show the minute you submit. Also as someone else mentioned some of those Rss Directories reject auto submissions.. I think RssMillion rejects them (I could be wrong there but I think they are one that does reject auto submission, I do now there are some that do).

The best way to keep track of ALL your link building efforts is to use Google Alerts...

Google Alerts

Sign up and add all your domains with quotes like so...

"somedomain(.)com"

Without quotes if you want to track keywords as well.

You can have as many alerts as you like, and can use this to track other sites showing the strongest for your keyword campaigns.

RSS bot works well for me, and you should receive some emails once your feeds are accepted.

Nothing wrong with using software.. I just gave you my opinion on why I prefer to do it manually and give you advice on why you should have accounts at the sites that have account creation.

I just bought the software too -- couldn't pass the Independence Day special they ran (picked up 3 of their tools). I sure hope it works. I was planning on tinkering with it later tonight.

Have you written support or emailed Big Mike to ask him about it? I know their support is top level and he gets back to you quickly. BTW, I've been using RSSbot for several months and found it to work very well.

RSSbot helped increase traffic to my sites by a noticeable amount. It even got totally brand new sites indexed and getting traffic from Google within two to three days. I try to use if for every new site I start and it even helps those older sites were I haven't submitted feeds yet. It doesn't matter to me that all the RSS directories accept my feeds, what matters for me personally is getting indexed by Google and getting the traffic. Hope your RSSbot problem is resolved.
