To Be Product Vendor Or NOT!

Okay so I remember in a course by John Reese, he talked about all of the different sources of traffic that he knew about. And I remember him talking specifically about affiliate traffic at some point.

I can't remember his exact words. But if I remember right, he said that it can bring huge results as far as building a list and making sales. However he also said that it is very unreliable and unpredictable.

So my question is this. If you're going to be a product vendor for the sole purpose of getting SUPER affiliates to send you their traffic, would you still work just has hard to diversify your traffic?

    I would diversify traffic sources because it's not as easy as many think to get top-selling affiliates to promote.

    At the end of the day, the best scenario is getting profitable with paid traffic so you can generate consistent income. After that affiliate traffic, organic search and other sources are bonus sales.

    That said, if you go the big launch method with a time-limited offer, that can result in plenty of sales if you pull it off.

      Agreed. The great thing about paid traffic is that in most cases, it can be controlled. Flip it on and off as needed.

    Everyone seems to focus on traffic. But your product and offer are just as (if not more) important.

    Go high end, less hassels, more profits

    Traffic is very important, but even then, trying to get that traffic from super affiliates is not the easiest thing.

    Getting traffic for your products and finding a main traffic source without affiliates is worth looking into.

    Affiloates want to see conversions, so if you don't know your potential conversions, affiliates won't be interested.

    Be a product vendor. But get traffic and put your product in the eyes of those viewers who will buy, but relying on affiliates on your first product may not be the best option.

    affiliate traffic is like the icing on the cake. Affiliates technically are the most expensive sell you will make in your business because in most cases you're looking at giving up 50% or more of your revenue. On top of that managing affiliates is a beast of a job itself. So unless you are using an affiliate network to manage affiliates I wouldn't 100 percent depend on them.

    I would do the majority of the marketing in house and if affiliates want to promote, welcome them. They just shouldn't be the complete driving force of your business...all it takes is an offer to come out that's better than yours, converts higher than yours, and paysout faster than yours and they are gone.

    I am a product creator and I don't rely on affiliates. But don't disregard there power to your business either. That would be ludacris and foolish.

    Its a balance with the offer and them. Good offers naturally get affiliates.

  • I prefer to be a product vendor because I feel that it's where the real leverage is. Regarding affiliates, they're crucial for product launches and occasional promotions to create momentum and market awareness, but sooner or later you will need to generate your own traffic: affiliates are prompt to switch their traffic to the latest offer in the market.
