There is a service www.Ether.com that lets you charge anything you want to per minute or per hour when people call up to talk to you.

Wow, I would call Allen, BigMike, Exrat, Brian Kumar and a few other Warriors if they had accounts set up with www.Ether.com. Well I'd call if they didn't charge a bajillion dollars per minute.

In the process of setting up an account for a friend of mine who is a Techie I thought, "Hey this might be a way for some Warriors to pick up some extra bucks." (Not the Warriors mentioned above, of course, but some who are looking for a little extra moolah.)

You simply set up a free account and post your price per minute or per hour to talk. You can talk about anything legal and not porno.

When someone wants your help they call your Ether number and your phone rings. You are asked by a roboOperator if you will take a call and if you indicate "yes" you are connected to your client. The client can give a window/time frame when he will accept a call back and if you don't want to take the call immediately you call the client back and talk at your convenience.

They agree ahead of time to pay your price and if they really like your help they can leave a bonus payment for you.

This service is the property of AT&T according to the footer so It should be around for a while.

This might be a good extra money maker for a one man help desk, or a coach or anyone else who can help on any number of subjects via telephone.

Also you can charge for emails you follow up with and for any downloads your client wants from you.

My friend is not going to rely on the online catalog to get him business he is going to put his Ether Phone Number on his business card and other offline advertising. "Need help with your office PC network? Call....."

If my friend does any good with this I'll post here about his experience.

Does anyone here already provide their service via Ether. Do you make any money?

It sounds like an interesting concept. A directory of sorts. People could publish their rates, and area of expertise.

I wouldn't pay anything to talk TO Allen (et. al,), but I may pay something to listen to him.

@BizBooks - I looked - but can't find the feature anywhere. I downloaded the latest version - even the instructions on the Skype site don't help.

Yes, you do have to verify your identity. 1. you have to put up a CC for ID and 2. If you ripped off a couple of people they would post bad reviews. They have a feed back system.

I guess if you said your were the Donald he would also be after you very soon.

AT&T probably has a big vested interested to verify Celebs although I haven't seen any Famous peoples' names yet.

I remember years ago when Keen.com was THE place if you wanted to speak to experts/advisors over the phone and pay by the minute. Now, Keen is mostly dating and psychic services....and now they spun off their computer/business area into another website.

I wonder if there are any other major players besides Ether.com
