Default A new social networking strategy?

Hello Internet Marketers!

Micro-blogging is a great tool for internet marketing but I've noticed that there is no dedicated place to connect 1-to-1 and discover new people, share thoughts and promote our products and services in real-time.

I've been working on a new micro-blogging project at MMRuNe.com. In a nutshell its comparable to twitter, you can update in 140 characters, you can gain followers and build reputations. But the difference is that you are promoting to a community of fellow Internet Marketers.

The project has not yet gained mass popularity amongst internet marketers, so I'm really here to ask if its a service you would use and could you adpot it as a new marketing strategy other than twitter?

I think there is potential in a product like this, however I would probably only join once it became really really popular within the IM community (which I think is a tough ask)

I think the only issue with something like that would be two fold. One with only 140 characters you often create something that looks very spammy and those keyword of quick, easy, tons of money, now make me hit the back button.

The other is that people often end up being spammy even on Twitter, you have to share and that's hard to do in 140 characters. Creating some kind of search engine that let's users see posts that are exactly about what they are looking for would create a great deal of value.

sorry I guess that's actually one reason, but the spammy thing without interaction is why I almost never look at other people Tweets.

learning how to use current content and repurpose it.

Given how large a proportion of the IM community is already on Twitter I can't help but feel you've missed the boat on this one.

I'd love to be proved wrong though so get out there and make it happen.

I have already built a massive following on twitter
so I don't think I am going to use this service, since
I have plenty micro blogging IM buddies already.

I cant' seem to get MMRuNe.com to load up.

Anyhow, I say keep going. No website has been instantly successful like this right out of the gate. Like all things marketing... time and persistence will land you in the running of the wolves. Visit other websites that are doing this.. I know of a few doing ad sharing.

Evolve it.. Learn and press forward.
