Hey everybody i am looking to build my own list and start selling solos,
Trying to build a list just so you can sell solos is a bad idea. After you learn how to generate quality subscribers and convert them into buyers and you have built a large list, then think about selling solos.

This would be correct. You need to not only learn to build a list, but you also want to learn how the sales process and how to convert those leads into sales.

I'm for helping newbies out. If you want to list-build using solos, PM me and I'll give you a review copy of my solo- ad list building course.

Solo ads are an advanced email marketing technique that should only be used for experienced marketers with an established relationship with their list (in my opinion that list should be very large to justify pimping out your subscribers to advertisers).

As Mr. Stangel pointed out you might want to build up your list as much as possible (i recommend staying away from the solo crowd at first) and establish trust there so that they'll actually respond to your offers in the future.

        • As much as I understand fully the advice you have been given and tend to agree with it, I also think that the most successful business men often went against the grain and the perceived wisdom of the time.

In other words, please listen to the advice but at the same time remember it is your business. Therefore as long as you can look yourself in the mirror and believe in what you are doing - have the courage of your convictions.

Obviously this is also just my opinion and therefore feel free to ignore this as well

    I agree with Brent!
To deliver 50 clicks daily consistently you'll need a list of around 3K...
    Good luck

If you are looking to sell solo ads, be careful and only recommend offers that you believe will help your subscribers, if not, guess what, you are beating up your list to reap quick rewards, and in turn what you will have is a non responsive list that don't open or click emails. Only make sure to recommend offers that you believe will help your subscribers, if not you are taking steps back and not doing any good for you or your subscribers in the long run.

For building a list I would go with Stealth Funnel Profit.
For learning how to sell solo ads I would go with Igor Kheifets ( place his name in search).

Honestly, I cannot imagine why you would get into List Building with this type of mentality from Day 1 ?

Building a List and doing traditional Email Marketing with very good products and wonderful content to give away can really be a lucrative biz.

I cannot imagine having your Mindset with my List !! Just saying

    Hi,

Anyone CAN build a HUGE list of subscribers FAST if they wanted to.

But that doesn't mean that you'll get any response rates that you were
hoping for at the beginning of your list building ventures.

What do I mean by that?

Well, you could go out now and buy a load of low quality click packages
and get 10,000 - 20,000 clicks to your offer tomorrow if you wanted to.

But if those clicks are mainly low quality then most of them won't even bother
to open up your emails anyway.

Let alone click on your links.

So aiming to build a TARGETED HIGH QUALITY list of subscribers is the
    way to go.

That way you won't need a massive list to be able to start selling solo ads seeing
as though your response rates will be much better.

    Does that make sense?

If you have a set up that gives you those response rates right off the bat then
that is where you can start getting the clicks you need.

But also I would look at selling your own products too as this will allow you
to sprinkle in some BUYER clicks into your solo ad packages too.

People will RAVE about you if you are a PROVEN SELLER who has high
quality buyers and highly responsive subscribers in their lists.

    Good luck,

    Gavin

I never buy solo ads from people who are selling them, I always look around my niche for relevant sites see if they have opt in boxes , and then approach them.

If the your niche is good and your content is good, you should be primarily be looking to generate your revenue from your own site through affiliate links and products. However by heavily selling your list for others to use, you may alienate your list if they start receiving too many low quality emails. Its not really a good model to use.

However if you start selling good products to your list, you can gradually begin selling solo ads later on, which would be OK.

Why would you want to build your list exclusively for selling solo ads? Why would anybody want your subscribers if you are constantly hammering them with offers? You're going to have zero people clicking your ads if all you focus on is promoting to them everyday without providing any real value. Is that the type of business you really want?

As many mentioned here above, getting into solo ads and selling clicks may not be your best way to start especially after you built a huge list and nurtured it.

If you want to make the most money per subscriber just focus on building a sales funnel that converts and not just any sales funnel that sends random emails to people, and sell high ticket affiliate programs at the back end of your funnel to convert red hot leads into buyers and make big pay days!

Build your list, figure out how to monetize it with relevant offers, then sell solo ads as a complimentary revenue stream.

Most important part is making sure you can monetize the leads, otherwise you won't last very long as a solo ad seller - or a marketer for that matter.

Best way to sell solo ads is to prove it can produce revenue.

Sorry, Im kinda noob to this.

What would a "solo ads" use of a list?
Just emailing them with ads from a third person?

And what would be the classic way of using a high quality list?
To often email people with HQ content that they value and just sometimes try to sell them things through affiliate links?

These kind of selling emails are sent under your websites name or not? (obviosly the HQ content emails yes, because I suppose you should be sending feedback of your website publications on them, but trying to sell something under the name of your niches, may cause them to be cosidered less valie by the visitants/subscribers...)

Don't stop list building until you've gotten it as big as you can. Why aim for sufficient instead of best?

There's nothing wrong with the 'Churn & Burn' (selling solo ads) method of list building... it's merely one of the three different methods of creating an online business marketing to a list of subscribers.

The *validation* of whether a particular online method of business is good or not is whether you earn money with it, right?

Well ... there's quite a few people who will laugh at you if you say that you shouldn't go into list building with the objective of selling solo ads... they are laughing all the way to the bank every day.

Building a relationship with your list, and selling your own products or affiliate products takes a different set of skills that not everyone has.

      Couldn't agree more.

Plus with regards to selling your own products and/or building a relationship, many people do have those skills, they just choose not to go that route.

It all depends on what you want out of your list. I have different lists for different purposes.
In any case if you want a responsive list it is good to build some sort of relationship first, test, test, test and then you will know how responsive it is to be able to advertise what a solo ad will give to your customers.

I agree with what Ben Holmes is saying. Though most replies here said one needs to build relationship with the list, which is good for the long run. However that is a skill not everyone has. So the 'Churn & Burn' method is appealing as no relationship building is required but just the need to constantly replenish the list due to unsubscribe or burnt out.
