Just recently, I am noticing that more and more website flippers/sellers are packaging their products into a .info domain name. I know it's easier to come up with a good, non-existing, and keyword-rich .info name. But I believe a good .com name adds more value to a package. Any sellers/flippers here willing to share their thoughts on this? |

I think it's a crappy habit and I never do it. I only buy one of them when the site is too good to pass up but, more often than not, I then purchase a good domain name for it. When I'm building a site myself, I purchase the .com, .net, .org and .info, if available, for the site and give all of them to the customer to protect their domain.

Depends on who you are building the site for (market). If you want to build a site for someone as a startup business, then yes a dot com will have more value. However, if you are building a site for someone who is only interested in gaining more coverage for AdSense, or some other affiliate revenue generating venture, then, no it is not real important. It doesn't matter to the search engines what namespace the domain name is in. |

.info is a cheap way to go. Powerful buyers are looking for the good .com's, a good expired domain list can reap you thousands in extra value due to the fact that you have a sick .com name. Other options are including prefixes such as "my", "the", "with" then the keyword rich name. |

I always buy a .com for reselling a new site but for my own sites that I plan to keep for a while, I would go with a .org, .biz or .info if I really wanted to use the keyword as the domain name and the .com was taken. I feel like once it is making money the extension isn't really as important.

I think it depends on the term of your investment. I am sure in 10 years time, when you can't even get a 6 word .com, then some of the 1 and 2 word .info will be worth a bit... but if you are looking to flip short term, I just don't think the buyers are out there right now.

I think it all depends on the kind of site you want to sell. If you want to sell site for cheap, than get a .info but if you took a lot of time to build it, choose a .com as this will increase the value of the site as long as the title of the .com represent the content of the site.
