Is Amazon stealing affiliate's commission?
I have several Amazon affiliate sites and I had around 9% conversion rate for my affiliate links. That means for every 100 affiliate link clicks, I will have 9 sales.
But this month till now, my conversion rate is decreasing dramatically, so till today, my conversion rate is only 1%.
I am curious about what happened, so I visited my site, click through one of my affiliate link, and land on Amazon.com
To my surprise, I noticed that if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, there will be a header bar show up on the top, with "Add to the Cart" button on the right hand side, and the exact product info and picture on the left hand side.
So I guess by doing so, if the visitors from my affiliate site click "Add to the Cart" button, and check out through the shopping cart, I will not get commission?
If it's true, then this explains why my conversion rate dropped dramatically.
So do you see any drop of your conversion rate recently?
BTW, I have never seen that kind of header bar show up before. So I am pretty sure this is something new on Amazon.com
Update:
I cleared my computer cookie and went to my affiliate site, clicked through my affiliate link, and landed on amazon.com
This time when I scrolled down to the bottom of the page, I didn't see that header bar any more.
Apparently, there was something wrong before I cleared my computer's cookie. But I don't know what caused that.
