Launching my first product - some tips?

Hi guys

I'm launching my first product in the SEO/MMO niche.

I'm new regarding ClickBank as a publisher. what is your advise regarding "promoting the product".
Should I use Clickbank? how long should I wait before applying to get my product on Clickbank?
What are the cons and pros of promoting it by myself vs using CB?

Thanks again

gabriel

    Hi,

You can promote your product both by yourself (with SEO and PPC, for example) and by using CB. These ways do not exclude each other. The advantage of using Clickbank is that your are exposed to over 100,000 affiliates looking for a product to promote. If you are lucky to be noticed by a superaffiliate, you could make a lot of sales.

Getting approved at CB is not difficult at all; it only takes 2-3 business days. You have to pay a $49.95 one-time fee, though.

I wish you a big success with your product!

    Hi Gabriel,

Congratulations on having your own product ready to launch!

Now, regarding your questions, I would suggest you to:

    1. listed with CB
    2. paydotcom
    3. seek jv partner

You don't want to promote this yourself unless you have a huge list or know how to do it! Otherwise, you will drain all of your energy trying to just promote your product!

So, the first step is to apply for CB merchant account right away! Yes, it cost $49.95 and it takes some times to get approved. Also, you have to remember that, once your set up your product on CB, you will have to honor the 56 days refund policy, have the affiliate page!

PRO: Listing at CB, you can tap into the 100k affiliate. Sometimes, if a super affiliate pick up your product, you will be on your way to make 4 or 5 figure income!

CON: In order for your product to show up on the market place, you need to have a few sales record! And to get that sales, you should either recruit affiliate yourself first or do some promotion yourself! So, in this case, you still have to do some promotion but not all, by yourself! Then hopefully when your product is listed on the marketplace, some other affiliates will pick it up!
So, I believe update your product here would get some affiliate or post it on the jv partner section to get some partners!

And I suggest Paydotcom because it has lots of affiliates too! And it is easier to get approved!

Lastly, I suggest seeking joint venture partners to help you to promote! You can get some jv partners through jv broker. Just key in Google to search for it! The reason to use jv broker is to break the ice or passing the gatekeeper! I hope you get the idea!

Well, all in all, I wish you luck and hopefully you get it off the ground fast!

Is it OK to list on both CB and PayDotCom? Is there any chance that this might drive potential affiliates away?

Otherwise it should open you up to more affiliates, so I can see why you would consider doing it.

Could someone enlighten me please? What are the pros and cons of doing this?

      Thanks

Using Clickbank will be an excellent way to go for gaining maximum exposure for your product. I would still use all other sources to gain traffic as well. So from PPC, Blog, Articles, Videos, etc...All of the different avenues will help your product succeed. A super affiliate will also work!

Set your cb payout to 50% to 75% (depending on how crowded the niche), and email some bloggers, give them the product for free, and ask them if they would review it and tell them they will make money if people buy it through their reviews.

Yep, lots of good advice given already!

As someone who has created many products and has products on CB right now, I would just add two things...

[1] If you don't have a decent amount of "proof" elements to put on your sales page already, I suggest contacting your Warrior friends and asking them to review your product in exchange for their testimonial.

The more of these you get, the better you will be. This will be especially helpful if you can get a good testimonial from a Warrior with an outstanding reputation.

[2] As it appears this is your own product, I'd suggest you create a WSO when your product is fully ready and promote it here. You'd have an opportunity to make some decent money, get customers talking about your product and get the attention of CB affiliates that may help you push it.

    Hope this helps,
    Kevin

One of the cons is that you don't have direct control over affiliates. For some people it's in the pros side but in my opinion if you want to make it big with your product, you need to have some kind of way to communicate with them directly. Do you have your own affiliate page where affiliates can register?

Stephen Root makes a great point!

ClickBank will not reveal your affiliates' email addresses so when building your "affiliate tools" page, I'd recommend using a form to get affilates to sign up.

This way, you can contact them with promotional updates, new tools, etc.

    You can see mine here:
    WriteHotCopyFast.com | Affiliate Tools Page

I provide the basic link on the page but in order for the affiliate to grab all promotional materials, they have to optin.

    Just something to consider.

PS - If you do this, I don't recommend you market to your affiliates! Just use
it for valuable communication or you may drive your affiliates away.

Exactly. There's a reason why somebody promotes Clickbank products. Affiliates don't want to hear about you unless it can make them more money.
