I'm entering into the weight loss market... Should the penn name I use be as a man or a woman? I ask because it seems as if many of my customers will be women and if the penn name is Angelina rather then Mike I figured it would help resonate more. The only problem is I'd like to do some interviews, audios, videos, etc and if the penn name is a woman then that sort of creates a problem when they actually hear/watch me. What do you all think... |

Dude, first of all, please spell check -> it's pen name. Anyway, to answer your question, I would post the article as a woman and rewrite it and post again as a man. Try this with a few articles and you'll be able to compare metrics. It does not matter what we think, it matters what your results are. Best of luck to you. TomG. |

Good answer by Tom! I agree...also it depends on what aspect of the weight loss market you are in, your core terms may be around "man boobs" and this would effect men obviously.

I have a niche site in the weight loss niche and after doing some surveys with my list, almost 70% of them are women of age 25-35. Thankfully, I started out with a female pen name. It really depends on the prospects and leads that you got. If most of them are males -- then use a female pen name. You can always start out with a pen name (any gender) and when you collect enough leads in your list -- send out surveys. Then introduce the male or female pen name (you have to assume this person is your JV partner or something) in your emails to your list. For example, "Hey there, It's Jason here from Quick Weight Loss. Just wanted to let you know that one of my gym-mate, Carey Hunter just lose 60 lbs. in just 2 months +. Check out this new video I posted where I interviewed Carey: bla bla bla" This is a sample email that you can send to your list. Introduce the new person. So, it works both ways. If you are wondering how you can portray the opposite sex -- just use voice over service. |

This depends on your market. If your products is for women only, why the heck choosing a masculine pen name? You can test this and monitor the response though. Franck |

Well... a website does not have to be a one-man or one-woman website. You can use several pen names on one website and make it sound like you have a whole team behind it. |

I think so both can help you out if you know what you are doing. I was also in weight loss market few months back and i interacted with both men and women pen names so the market matters a lot and not gender for me ![]() Thanks Webmatic |
