Adobe After Effects CS4

Hi Warriors!

I just did a 5 minute video for my girlfriend and the script came out very nice!

However, the lighting in the video is kinda...sucky.

I have a program called Adobe After Effects CS4. I edited the video by using the Exposure tab and adjusting the variables to brighten up the background.

Cool, right?

Wrong.

What happened was that the background was lit a lot better now, but my girlfriend's face came out a little pixely after I made the changes and exported the AE project back to video format.

I tried AVI, MP4, FLV, etc...but all of those gave me the same result...better lighting after the editing but the face of my lady looking "pixely"...

Does anyone off hand know how to adjust the lighting without compromising the quality of the video, per se?

Thanks in advance for any and all responses...that are helpful.

Negative responses can get the BIG STFU...LOL...

Unfortunately, with video production you'll hear this all the time: c*&$ in, c*&$ out... I am not trying to discourage you but most of the time you won't be able to adjust your video. That's why the pre production is so important for video and most of the times you would want to have that footage in HD even if the final product will be normal resolution.

Now, what i would try is to use layer modes on a selection. The way to do it is duplicate your footage in a new layer and make an animated selection around the area you want brightened up. Once you are done with that transform the layer mode for that layer to screen or try any others that might make it look better. In the end you might have the selection a bit too bright and with sharp edges. You can solve that by adjusting the feather on your selection and the opacity of the new layer.

    I hope this helps,
    Anton
