Should i give Facebook a chance?

Moderated: Facebook topics belong in the Social Media forum, thank you.

i've been reading a lot of information about using Facebook as my main traffic source for selling as an affiliate. Somehow, i will build my fan page through a free method, so, i don't want to make a great efforts, then, seeing no success at all. So, to the "facebook marketers", should i give it a chance? "Worth It?"

    Sure it is.

If you do it correctly, you can derive massive volumes of traffic from FB; and not just pages, but also groups. And this is by using free methods, not paid.

I do it heavily, among a great many other things. Give it a try!

Facebook works great for us. We've grown our page almost 100% organically and we have hundreds of thousands of fans who count for a very large part of our total traffic. That said, just because Facebook works for us, it does not mean it will work for you.

I attribute our success in Facebook to three factors:
      1. Our topic area is one which people are very passionate about. This gets us very high engagement rates, which is absolutely crucial if you want people to actually see your posts.
      2. Our topic area has a natural connection to buying things. Certainly not all of our followers buy something from us every day (or even ever), but a fair bit of them do. We include links to purchase in every post, but we do so in a way that isn't crass and seems more like we are providing a resource than trying to sell them something.
      3. We spend a lot of time putting together great content, often an hour or more of staff time for just one post. We make sure the writing is tight and the visuals are engaging.

So if you want to know whether to put time, energy (and possibly money) into Facebook ask yourself this:
      1. Can you imagine people liking, sharing and commenting on the content you'll be sharing? Or are you just going to be spamming people with sales pitches that they won't really care about?
      2. Is your page monetizable? You can have 7 billion followers, but if they aren't the type to buy things -- or buy the things that you are selling -- they're worthless.
      3. Are you willing to put the effort it takes into putting together great content? According to Facebook: "On average, there are 1,500 stories that could appear in a person's News Feed each time they log onto Facebook. For people with lots of friends and Page likes, as many as 15,000 potential stories could appear any time they log on." (Source: https://www.facebook.com/business/ne...ch-on-Facebook) In other words, the competition is fierce, so if you're not putting in the effort, you might as well not bother at all. There are other marketing strategies that are far less competitive.
