*affiliate marketers* do you find products to promote before or after making a site for a niche?

One thing i try to avoid is buying a domain and website hosting, and not finding any products to promote on my site, how do you guys avoid this? because if i find a decent niche with a keyword i can dominate, i cant find good products because it doesn't get attention. see my dilemma?

    Some of it, yes.

I think a big part of the answer to it may lie in the realisation that search-engine traffic is one of the most difficult kinds of traffic to monetize, for most affiliate marketing purposes: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post8659398

    Before - definitely.

I need to know that there are good quality products with sales pages to which I'm willing to send my traffic, before I start.

And I need there to be a few of them, too. Not just one or two.

The beauty of affiliate marketing is that unlike vendors, as affiliates we can build a real, asset-based business which isn't dependent for its security of income on the long-term success of any specific, individual products. That's a huge advantage, and certainly not one I'm in a hurry to forego!

That's probably why it's so easy to "dominate the keyword"? It's hard to monetize. Transcending search-engine traffic soon solves that problem.

(PS - I was just about to observe as tactfully as I could manage that you're taking a real chance by hosting a site called "internetincomeiseasy" at Blogger, but when I clicked on your link I found that your site has already been removed. An "MMO" site hosted at Blogger - quite apart from their terms of service - has no credibility anyway: it's like saying to people "I can teach you how to make money online and by the way I can't afford hosting for my own website". And your intended audience comprises people who know that, too! If you need "free hosting that doesn't show", try Freehostia.com, or Byethost.com, or 000webhost.com ).

This is so true. An asset based business focusing on one product is not something most affiliate marketers think about. Most affiliate marketers do not even think of what they do as a business. This is one of the reasons most people do not make any money in affiliate marketing.

Yea i deleted that not long after making it realizing it was a dumb idea, but it did sell an ebook, so that was cool. My preferred free hosting service is hourb.com right now, it works the best with least limitations.

I do. Your promoting a "Blogspot" domain. That's problem number 1. Good thing it's been removed though. Simple solution: get Wordpress.

I always check to see if a good niche product exists first. And for the most part, they do. In niches that i have personal experience in (basketball, computers, internet marketing, sex [haha])... there are a ton of products for them on the affiliate networks like Clickbank.

Truthfully if you think you can dominate a niche as an affiliate - but product(s) don't exist for it... then maybe you should consider being a vendor/product owner. Up to you though.

I would actually research the product or niche first before creating the website, etc.. No use doing the extra work and expenses if there aren't products that will sell in that niche. Thats why most recommend sticking with major markets, like Health, Sex, Money, etc, and then drilling down into one of those niches to find your products.
