There are a quite a few out there such as Micro Niche Finder, Keyword Elite, and Market Samurai. I did a lot of research looking at their sales page and reading peoples review on this forum (head over to Product Reviews and do a search on these products.. theres tons of info).

I ended up settling on Market Samurai. The user interface is friendly and new features added once in awhile. It's way more than just a keyword research tool and allows you to check out the seo competition for your particular keywords. If it's or SEO purposes.. this ones it if you are doing ppc I can't help you in that department.

There's also other free ones such as free wordtracker tool and seo book keyword tools (such search on google for those ones) but they aren't as good as the paid ones.

If you want to try Market Samurai, I believe it has a 12 days trial period.. I bought it after the third since the first 5 days you get a discount at $97

market Samurai is definately my research tool of choice. I bought it within two weeks of it being released and there is no way at all I would not use it now. It has a few features btu there are applications that you can use those features for, to find content and anaylse the rating of the content. You can use it as a search engine tool and also to have a look at your competitors.

I paid no where near the full price but I would still purchase it again at the full price. Another factor that is great is the fact that the help desk is fantastic.

I used Nichebot for a while since wordtracker was just too much for my budget. Its pretty decent for only 15 a month.

Wordtracker is still my favourite. I use the free tool for just a quick check of something, and the paid tool for serious kwp research.

I think I will be giving Market Samurai a look. I have been using Micro Niche Finder but find it inconsistent. As an example, Two weeks ago I found a kw that had 2400 searches a month and competition in quotes of 8,780 a month. Now all of a sudden today the competition has jumped up to 18,200 a month when I search for the term on Google. I thought MNF was supposed to be pulling directly from Google. Anyway, enough of my rant.

Don't worry about searching for competition in quotes. It's a fairly useless exercise and the data is not meaningful. Your competition count for any keyword phrase is about 10 pages and never more than 1,000 pages.

Google and MNF is all you need for effective KW research.

I am using Adwords more and more for my research ... it used to be the tool at the end of my research to validate my finds. However I now use it pretty much straight away as it give results based on actual activity.
