Default Resizing videos

I used Camstudio to do a video tutorial, after that I resize the video.

The funny thing is that after I resize it, video looks choppy and unreadable.

How do you guys resize the video?

And yes, I use XSitePro. The problem remains even when I use Windows Movie Maker or Pinnacle Studio.

Are you changing the ratio?

Em... What do you mean by changing ratio?

I just wanted to resize and once I resize, the words in the video cannot read at all. I see the words but they are all badly pixeled.

I think it is best to resize in common increments - like the
240x360 becomes 360x480 for example.

It's best to render videos in the biggest size you'll want them.
This takes up more memory but it give you a quality source
file. Once you resize you lose the quality - if you enlarge
after shrinking a video it will look bad.

I do not like the .FLV converter in XSP - it produces bloated
files and doesn't always do what you want. A converter that
makes .FLV using the VP6 codec is a great investment.
The cheapest is here: http://zerodollarmarketer.com/flix

That software converts .FLV very well and resizes too.

Save your video from Camstudio as an uncompressed AVI.

Then encode it using Flix 8 Standard (professional quality encoding with vp6 codec for better results) keeping the ratio the same as the master. During the encoding process set the dimensions to what you want your final display dimensions to be.

Now that you have an flv file with the dimensions you want embed it at those dimensions into your page using whatever you are using.

The issue you are having is that you are likely taking a video that is one dimension and embedding it at a smaller dimension. This is not changing the actual size of the video but just embedding it at a smaller size than it actually is which is what is causing the distortion.

OK, do you think the problem will be solved if I spend $300 and use Camtasia?

I also saw this:
Camstudio Gold | Video Screen Recorder

Anyone tried this?

Hi Joseph,

Try this: HandBrake

It's free and I think it solves your problems.

1. No. Spending $300 will not solve your problem. Following my advice will (see my previous post). I would be willing to bet that the issue is exactly as I described.. you are embedding the video at smaller dimensions than it is encoded at.

2. Stick with the free one from CamStudio - Free Screen Recording Software. The commercial versions are all based on the same code and the most recent version of the free opensource which is 2.5.1 beta is great.

You won't solve your problem using any other version as they will all do exactly the same thing.
