Someone told me this earlier and I just thought I'd share...this is by no means an 'advice'.

Here it goes:

"As marketers, we are always looking to get better at what we do -- if you're not striving to be better, you're not a marketer...You should always have systems in place for everything you do in your business. Otherwise, you're just a salesman"

This is not to belittle sales people (I used to sell door to door) but it just had a profound effect on me and got me thinking about the way I do business online and offline.

Maybe it will have the same effect on you.

Thanks for the share. You know, the idea is certainly appropriate for any career or effort that you put forth which requires your time and energy.

Very true, in Scrum for agile software development the team has a process for continual improvement. No matter what you do in life you should strive to get better at it, otherwise what is the point?

I have to agree. This has been a big punch in the gut so to speak. I just realized that I'm becoming complacent with my marketing just because I'm already doing it.

I mean I still do what I needed to do but the fire is no longer there.

I was even thinking that the reason why I accept students or someone to mentor is not because they need me but because they serve as my reminder and brings my enthusiasm back.

I think with anything (even sales) there are milestones that we look for. For example, someone in sales might try to break their monthly unit sales.

Someone in internet marketing may have monetary goals, number of followers goals, achieving "guru" status by whatever standards they set.

And the same goes for almost everything though, you should be striving to be better.
