Any success with free classified ads?

Hey Everyone,

So, I just spent the last 30 minutes or so posting up a few free ads and small paid ads on a couple of classified ad sites, like Craigslist and Backpage etc.

However, as I was doing this relatively time consuming work, I wondered if it would work for me. So, I thought I'd ask around the forums that I belong too, so, have you ever posted on a site like this and if so, did you get a positive result?

Thanks!

The right ad in the right place can work wonders. Most free classified sites (Cragislist not included) are a waste of time. There are a lot of paid classified sites that are also a waste of time. One paid classified site that's worth looking at is eBay. I'm not talking about their free classifieds designed to compete with Craigslist. They've got classifieds available that show up right alongside of the eBay auction and buy now listings. They're an amazing value and very effective if you know what you're doing. $10 for a 30-day ad.

      Couldn't agree more.

About eBay classified ads. I currently use them for a low cost information product in a non-MMO niche. I have averaged 36 customers/contacts a month over the last 6 months. And expected customer value is a bit over $4.50. It took a couple of months of testing to get these figures. Still, not bad for $10/month....

Yep. And the great thing about these ads is you aren't held to the rules that come with auction and buy now listings. You can put all the links you want into your ad. They're a great traffic generator. If you know how to create an intelligent listing on eBay this method of advertising can be VERY profitable.

I just spent 30 minutes trying to find paid classifieds. Do you just upgrade a free ad or do you have a link?

          Thanks.

I'm glad to hear about this. I knew about eBay's separate classified section which never produced any results for me (or anyone else who mentioned using it). But this sounds like it has possibilities.

I have had a bit of success with Craigslist, but not great results. I found Backpage to be a complete waste of time.

Free classified ads are how I got started making money online. If you can pay for advertising, look into placing offline ads in magazines and newspapers, as well as buying online traffic from Facebook, PPC such as 7search, Bidvertiser, etc.

A couple other free classified ad sites you might want to try : UsFreeAds, OLX, and Classifieds - Free Classified Ads Online

    Good luck !

You should look into paid ads. This will get you the best and fastest results possible.

Free marketing takes a lot of time and it may not get you any good results.

From my experience free classified websites became a waste of time many years ago.

I also stopped paying for classifieds many years ago but I can't say I have tested any recently.

I use WF classifieds. Some do well, some never make a sale.

    Overall I'm ahead.

I had tried this before, and this is my website mymarket.sg targeted singapore audience.
At first few months trial its been running smooth. But after around 3 months, it started to get lots of spam and hacked. So that kind of concerns for me to start applying security and spam blocks.
Advertising is important which currently i mainly use Facebook.

I personally have never had any success with free classified ads (usfreeads, craigslist, backpage, olx, etc). I think that most of the people looking at free classified ads are other people trying to make a sale. I haven't tried ebay classifieds though. Those sound promising.

I used USFreeAds a few years ago and it got some traffic, but not much for the effort it took. Craigslist can be difficult to get any response at all on some subjects (I paid for a few months worth and got zero response, using a method of arbitrage of selling logos, testimonial videos, SEO etc. to businesses).

One free alternative that can work well if used intelligently is the Answers sites. YahooAnswers bans a URL for little or no reason so be very careful what you say there. There is another one :

Web Answers - Share your knowledge. Ask questions for free. Get the answers you need. - WebAnswers.com

which is a lot less over-sensitive, but still be sensible in what you write . . . no irrelevant content or blatant ads, but used well it can certainly get targetted traffic to the right places!

If the PR of the classified ad site is higher, you can get good results.
Don't waste time by posting the ads yourself. Outsource it to an Indian at a very cheap price.
    You will surely be successful.

Many people are still getting great results with classified ads, particularly Craigslist.

Those sites are receiving a lot of traffic, and in my opinion work best with offline products/services. But they can also be powerful if you use the right method to promote online products/services.
