Default How do i hold a contest on my site? need solutions

so ive been trying to hold a contest on my site and have no idea on how to get people to enter the contest with a number(so they can be randomly selected).

ive been trying and trying to look for ideas on how to do this but to no avail.

ive searched for scripts and got nothing,

i was thinking about using a auto responder with a new campaign, But wouldn't that be a problem with pricing each month? like if i had 10k subscribers and they all decided to enter and made my subscribe list 20k then wouldn't i get charged more?

i only say this because i currently have low funds.

so could somebody help me with this? i need something that works with iweb, as i am on a mac.

overall, how can i capture a lead once and have him assigned with a number so i can pick a winner?

any suggestions?

What type of site are you running this contest on? Is it a blog?

If so you have a couple of options:

1. Alter your theme so that it numbers comments. I know there are some WordPress plugins that do this but I don't know if they work with 2.8.

2. If you have an RSS feed have people signup to your RSS feed with their email address. You can then log into Feedburner and export to an Excel file and use a random number generator to select the winner.

You have to decide what you want to accomplish with a contest. Do you want more RSS subscribers, blog comments, or more people on your mailing list? Once you determine that you should be able to find a solution.

Hope this helps,
Andy

yes its on a blog, but its not with wordpress.
im on a mobileme hosting with iweb
is their anyway to make iweb use the number system?

i would ask them to do it manually, But it will be a hassle for them and their is also the possibility of members signing up as the same number.

i do like the wordpress idea but i would like to make it so that they can enter in only once. is their a way to do that with wordpress?

i do have rss but i have no idea on how to even subscribe to it myself.
