Okay... I don't want to have any connections with clickbank, linkshare, nor CJ. I've seen affiliate directories whereby merchants are 'running their own show'. Can this method work? Do publishers trust independent merchants? How do I go about setting this system up? Is it as profitable and potentially successful as opposed to joining up linkshare and clickbank? Your help is much appreciated. |

ClickBank really suck. We have put 2 product on clickbank and we have not received any single sale from them. not even single affilaite join our affilaite program even though we are offerng 50% affiliate commission.

You need to invest a lot of money and energy and time to be a merchant. And there is a problem of trust for sure.

I would think the same, you'd need to money to invest, to be a "real" company. Plus how would you prove you could do them justice? How could you prove your abilities or skills? The other ones you mentioned are time tested, proven, businesses that work.

It's much more difficult to do it yourself and get affiliates, unless you're a big guy and have a huge following. In most cases, it pays to go with a third party provider. Tyrus |

| I beg to differ. But if products don't sell, it is hardly Clickbank's fault or the affiliate's fault. You have to revisit your product, your niche and your sales funnel.

Good points. What about putting my site on an affiliate site like associateprograms.com? When I click on some of the merchants' "join affiliate" button, it goes to paypal, or paydot etc... Does anyone know if these guys are making any money as merchants? Thanks for your input. |

There are many affiliate product directories, but you could also consider tailoring your product(s) to appeal to an existing list owner as a JV arrangement. Find a suitable player in your niche/market and come up with an offer that's hard to refuse. That's as good a way as any for an independent to get some fast exposure. Frank

Also 50% is not exactly a big percentage, often you'll see programs paying 60-70% and up. Course depends on the price of the product.
