I joined here a few days ago with no idea how to get started. I even tried begging for help by offering a split of money made.....sorry. ![]() I now realise that I just need to learn about IM and start off with something relatively simple that I can get my head around but be comfortable with. I've stopped making excuses and have decided to try affiliate marketing and article submission. Here's my plan and a few questions if somebody would be so kind to answer. I basically find a niche that is being highly searched but has low competition. I then write quality articles that is related to my niche with a link to a product with my own domain on a landing page. I then need to get backlinks. I've heard about social bookmarking and dofollow sites but I'm not sure how they work. Are they the same thing? Also a lot of people suggest 2-3 quality articles a day. If I decide just to promote one product to start with does that mean I need to write 2-3 articles a day just on that one product? People also talk about a resource box, what is it? Last question. In my article I'll have a link to my affiliate product but using my domain name. Do I just link directly to the product with domain name forwarding or do I send them to a squiddo page or blog page and if so why? Sorry for all the questions but this path seems to make the most sense to me and seems the cheapest option to get started with. Any help would be deeply appreciated |

You can't link directly to the product because it's against most article directories' terms of service. It's definitely against Ezinearticles.com's terms. So, the purpose of linking to a lens, blog, or site is to have an online source for your content, and so that you can pre-sell your visitors before sending them to your product. You should also have an opt-in form on your site with an incentive to opt-in as well. Hope that helps. |

Hi Thanks Sully. What would I put on my presell page? Does anyone have an example of a live article with a link to a blog or such that I could view to see how it works? Also when you say opt-in form is that for capturing email addresses? |

Tasha, As Sully says many article directories won't allow direct links so you could write your articles in an informative manner and as part of your resource box put something that would make them click through to your website, Squidoo lens or blog etc. Once you have them at your own site/lens or whatever you can then pre-sell them on the product you want them to go to. It's the product owners job to sell the product you're kind of like the warm up act! You asked about your resource box. It's an opportunity for you to sell the reader on getting more of the information that you are talking about in your article. It works best if you use some kind of "teaser" that piques their curiosity and makes them click through to discover what you were talking about. You also asked about social bookmarking. Yes, that's a good way to get backlinks but it's only one of many. Your articles in the directories, for example, are another. Some of those backlinks will be "do follow" links while others will be ones which are "no follow". They are broadly speaking instructions to the search engines to follow or not. If you are using Firefox you can get add-ons which tell you if links are follow or no follow. Here's one NoDoFollow. I hope that is of some help to you. Nigel |

You can also use the confirmation process itself to redirect people to a one time offer (OTO), which is usually a discounted version of a product you're selling. When you're creating the form in aweber, you'll see where you can insert your link to the offer, instead of their default thanks page.

Have you considered video marketing through YouTube? I find that I prefer to watch a good video rather than read an entire article. It also acts as a backlink to your blog, site, etc. You may need to download Camtasia's 30-day trial, or maybe you already have a program that records videos of your desktop. I wish you well! |

Thanks guys the info is great ![]() Nigel....What you said about the pre-sell page being the warm-up act makes total sense to me now, very good way of putting it, thanks. I've thought about YouTube but I don't think my PC has video capture capabilities unless there's a way of making a slideshow and then turning into a video, something worth thinking about. |

Try to do the 30 day challenge. That's the best place for beginners to start.

Glad the explanation help! If you've got a PC you could use Windows Movie Maker to create a YouTube video using slides you've created and do a voice over if you wish. I've also PM'd you. Nigel

I agree with Michael in joining the 30 Day Challenge. The 2009 pre-training has just started and I'm following the program myself. It's a great way for a newbie to learn day-by-day, step-by-step how to set up a basic system (that you can repeat, expand etc.) to make your first $1.00 online. What I really like is they teach you how to use a number of (free) online tools and technologies to streamline the process.

I am new to this forum. Wise woman. Where can someone follow this 30 day challenge at? Also is there a place that anyone knows about that lists up coming product launches outside of the Make Money Online or Internet marketing niche? All the information about product launches i find is related to one of those two niches. Thanks for the help. Paul |

Blue Betty, Two years ago I was in your position, and after being scammed for thousands of dollars, ( the Internet is a Jungle), I finally found a Program that answers all of my questions, and offers a great but realistic opportunity. I am also originally from South Wales, I now live in South Africa. Regards |

Here is an article and how it links to a site. Text Messaging Tips For Men - How to Build Intense Attraction by Text Messaging a Woman I am pretty new here too. I did the 30 day challenge, but never completed it. I plan to do it again. There are a lot of free tools out there. I follow the same formula over and over, they call that rinse and repeat I think. Social book marking is good too. Find your product, create a lens or a blog, write articles, post on forums and blogs. It sounds simple but really if you are new, its not. |

Hi Robin That's great just the sort of thing I wanted to see. Has that particular lens been successful for you and how many articles did you post to link to it? Tasha |

21 Day Action Plan Here are your first 7 days. Day 1 Pick Your Niche Day 2 Research Key words Day 3 Set up a blogger blog in the niche Day 4 Write 10 250 word articles. Post them on your blog. Day 5 Choose an Affiliate Program that fits your niche. Link to the affiliate program from the sidebar of your blog and within the blog posts. Day 6 Ping and onlywire your blog Day 7 Submit the 10 articles to ezinearticles and other directories. Articles are linked back to your blog through the authors bio box. Of course there's a lot more to it but I think you get the idea. The point is to have a plan of action and be committed to it everyday. Here is an example of an article that has the resource box pointing to my wedding website. http://ezinearticles.com/?Wedding-Fa...ing&id=2231838 Here is the site itself. It earns money through AdSense http://www.weddingsonashoestringbudget.com Here is the squidoo lens set up to link to the main site. http://www.squidoo.com/wedding-flowers-4U I also have sites set up at gather, weebly, and xanga pointing to it linking with its key words. Hope this helped. Dee |

I have only written 3 articles, did my 4th today. It has been up about a month and I am now getting organic traffic. I have made money off of it, not a ton, but it paid my utility bill. I have 6 lens up but this week I am focusing on this one. (There are a lot of men out there who deperately need help in the dating area) lol. I also use rss feeds, and 3 other article directory sites other than ezine, but I love ezine. I am a one week marketing fan. Pot pie girl. And by the way, I really don't even know what organic traffic really means nor do I understand what an rss feed is. I just do it. I am pulling my hair out today with aweber. Ready for a cold beer.

Hi Blue Betty, Article marketing is one of the oldest IM tactics to earn money and also one of the most lasting method simply because content is king online. I recommend Ezinearticles.com if you are starting out. I made my first sale from there. The key thing I want to highlight to you is that besides setting up landing pages and writing articles, it all starts with keyword research. If keyword research is not done well, you will just be wasting your time and get discouraged. Work on getting your first sale first. That was what my mentor told me and I never looked back |

I agree with DeePower, Dee is right, whatever you chose to do - you need to have a plan and stick to it. If you can stick to your plan, you will more than likely exceed your own expectations. Good luck Cheers Steve |

"Often people attempt to live their lives backwards; they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want. ~Margaret Young"
