I treat my followers on twitter as i do with my e-mail marketing. I find it very profitable. If I am promoting a product or giving away free info my twitterers get it as well |

You can sell on twitter, just don't overdo it. Be sure to sell good products, and be honest, don't sell crap and don't sell that often either. I use it to sell my services, and it's a great resource.

Twitter - like any marketing online - is better for building relationships. Just as building an email list without building a relationship with that list is likely to produce very little, Twitter is the same - by continually seeking out like-minded Tweeters, offering up quality information, engaging your Twitter base with questions and answering others you can build a following that is both relevant and "in-tune" with your posts where most others will be dismissed as just noise. Some of my best customers lately have come from Twitter relationships - also some of my best JV deals. Jeff |

John, The #1 problem with newbies is information overload. Just on this post you've received several excellent books and articles. There are a ton more out there but I don't think you need them right now. Just stick with the info right here in these replies. To get over the information overload hurdle start with just one book from the replies you got to this post and just start tweeting. You'll make some mistakes at first so get them over with as quickly as possible, the only way to do that is to just do it. So get going, tweet, and read up. I also suggest you follow some of us here as you'll also learn a lot through that. Good luck and happy tweeting |

Twitter is easy to use, but many people trying to make money completely miss the point. Don't treat it like an email list. If you send nothing but links you'll lose all of your 'real' followers quickly as people want to interact and although some people will follow you just because you follow them - most of them have no interest in what you're saying, they're just pushing their own stuff. Work on building relationships and you can do well. If you just look at it from a link building perspective you'll probably waste your time. Andy |
