This is how a viral traffic looks like... and suddenly... oh no Hostgator, please don't!!!!

One of my posts in my 4-day old website got viral and I was scrambling to think what other things I can do to cash-out from the surge when suddenly hostgator says access denied...

My post that I made at about 10 hours ago has now more than 2K Facebook shares and 24K unique visitors. if this happens again, I am thinking of moving my sites to dedicated servers.

Here is a screenshot of my traffic. I recorded around a minute as a souvenir as this phenomenon might never happen again..... (video removed)-----

How did you get the viral traffic? You should find out from the analytics.

Anyway, i've been noticing HostGator's quality decreasing over time, and their servers giving me traffic-related errors more often. Congrats on your success, Adie, which seems bitter-sweet at the moment.

First of all I don't hide behind my monitor, I tell it like it is offline or online!

I was asking how the viral facebook takes place in the first time? What ignite it? etc

But this is what he said!

How do you find out what ignited the viral traffic from Analytics?

Well if you can't see from the video that it's from Facebook, then I really think you should get some glasses.

Okay, both of you be cool.
To answer your question, there is nothing that triggered the viral except that, the topic is shocking to every pinoy here and abroad. Once I posted it on my wall with the message "Share if you are proud of (player's name)", my friends shared it, and the friends, and the friends, and the friend of their friends up to unlimited levels...

The viral thing is not about you to do it but about the content. Even if you post that article to thousands of pages, if the content is not interesting, people will ignore it....

        That's how it works....

Here are some examples of viral topics that you can analyze. These are all satirical articles that made thousands of dollars to the website owners.

Thank you, Adie. That's a great contribution. To say it in another words: the content (shocking news) is very important, add that with an ego booster "Share if you are proud of .."

And as mentioned by savidge4: "the right story, in front of the right people, at the right time"

    Adie,

I would remove the video. It would take someone about 5 minutes to check out your system and a few days to duplicate you out of the equation.

How are you going to duplicate a post about the first NBA Filipino player? That was targeting at its best... the right story in front of the right people, at the right time GOOD JOB!

If you have to ask, you're at least one of the folks Adie doesn't need to worry about.

Because your website was only four days old it's possible that your ISP thought that you were a spam site and blocked you. It is such a shame especially as it's very obvious that you have generated some excellent traffic. But don't give up!

The traffic is not from a paid ad so I don't think there is problem. I have done this before in other topics..

Thanks for the reminder but no need. People can do whatever they want especially in this case that needs creativity.. This is actually an experimental site and I entertained with the result..

    Okay, Adie.

I will say, though, having been a viral marketer for over 10 years, and playing with millions of views on a daily basis, I would never be so open about how I achieved viral results, even of the experimental variety. I'd certainly share the information with friends or those who pay, but any number of halfway bright folks here, especially those wearing black hats, can dissect your entire traffic source, uncover every connected social network account, and - as mentioned - duplicate you out of the business (and I don't refer to this "experiment;" I refer to your next one and the next and so on). It's a rather cut-throat industry. In any case, no worries and best of luck!

Back to your original question, yeah, given all of the complaints, I wouldn't trust my traffic to Hostgator. I use a reseller of Rackspace Cloud Sites hosting to allow a site to automatically allocate the necessary resources when there is a traffic spike. i.e., You only pay for more firepower when your site actually needs it, rather than the host melting down and losing the traffic. This is not an affiliate link; I just like the service that I've been getting for two years:
