Sad that you've got to resort to those tactics to get hits, on the back of people's misery. Was the copy you had pre-Ebola really that shit?

I doubt even the newest of the newbies on here would stoop that low. And I had a degree of respect for you - before this post that is.

As an aside: you'll probably greatly regret having made this post in the morning.

I don't think it's a good idea to use massive incidents like that promote your business. I also think it's morally wrong in my opinion.

No - and when I see people doing it - I leave the site.

Edit: Not to condemn you for doing it - just not something I'd participate in. I'm already sick of hearing that word just on the news.

If if you could make billions off of other people's suffering why would you? I would never want to make money that way, the world is hard and harsh I don't need to add or profit from it.

To be fair celente, are you using the "E" word in a helpful way? As in "useful information" to perhaps, stop the fear mongering?

I don't, and as others have mentioned, take you to be a person that just takes advantage of people's fears. I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time!

Could someone please tell me what is wrong with it? Honestly, I have gone this entire time believing Ebola was just a big dramatic swine flu.

I don't believe anything on TV, nor do I watch much of it. Actually... I don't watch TV. The once in a while piratebay does me wonders. Is everyone going to talk about how immorally wrong it is to illegally download movies next?

All I would like to say, the research I have done about "Ebola" Which bare with me, wasn't very long or very much to figure out this was just another scare tactic.. Obviously working. Could someone please direct me to a link where there is any actual proof this is as bad as the media is making it out to be?

Remember swine flu? Lol. I have seen dozens of posts of people talking about Ebola and I have read the article about the "texas lady" or whatever.. But honestly... You guys are really buying into this shit? Especially as IM, you know marketing is a illusion. Most of life unfortunately is a Illusion. You might as well live a happy fulfilled life. If it becomes "Air borne" We are all going to die.. Does that honestly scare you? It is far beyond any of our control. Live everyday loving your family doing whats important to you. You will be just fine!

    CDC Information about Ebola
(Source: cdc.gov) Ebola is a rare and deadly disease caused by infection with a strain of Ebola virus. The 2014 Ebola epidemic is the largest in history, affecting multiple countries in West Africa. The risk of an Ebola outbreak affecting multiple people in the U.S. is very low.
What you need to know:Ebola is spread through direct contact with blood and body fluids of a person already showing symptoms of Ebola. Ebola is not spread through the air, water, food, or mosquitoes.
I would also like to add, we are in a marketing forum. WARRIOR forum to be exact... A lot of you don't sound very "warrior" to me. Sound like you are just talking having no idea what is actually going on. Honestly, does anyone really know whats going on?

I don't believe the brainwashing on TV it's just to keep the 99% in line but it doesn't mean someone didn't die from Ebola I'm sure it's used for political purposes and the reporting is not 100% true they always lie on TV to the 99% I get that but still it's not good to profit from Ebola just leave it along someone is suffering. How would you feel about it if the roles where reversed and you where the victim? For some things it's just better to leave it alone make money some other better way. Good luck!

And the marketing ploy that you seem to be so proud of as a way to "stand out" is nothing more than praying on the "sheep" that are too stupid to realize that there is no reason for Ebola to be a thing in the first place.

Look at Bill Gates openly admitting to controlling the population with the use of Vaccines.

He's profiting off of hurting others as well.

Supposedly he is being brought to trial in India for injuring hundreds of young girls with some experimental HPV vaccine.

      That's ok though, right?

And back to big pharma - just wait and see how much money they make with their supposed Ebola vaccine which is purely capitalizing on fear and misinformation spread by major tv media outlets.

They don't call it tv programming for nothing.

If you're in the prepper niche, it's a great time to talk about these issues.

A lot of people will get mad for marketers making money from this situation...

    But it's the prepper niche.

What do you expect? Preppers and conspiracy theorists LOVE these topics. Even if you don't, or find them offensive + detestable. That's why marketing is both art and science. Because it requires balance, and there's no right or wrong. (Ethics come into play, but if you're not hurting anyone I don't see how this is a touchy subject?).

Always give your end users what they want. And if they truly want it? How is it unethical?

(Check out TheBlaze + InfoWars for an idea of what I'm talking about).

Haha.. alright I have to chime in.. first I wouldn't use the tactic because its a lot of long term work for temporary gains since this outbreak scare is a temporary thing.. but that is not what offends me.. what offends me is that we call it the 'e' word.. has the media scared everyone so effectively that you guys are censoring even writing the word? Are we now under the rule of President 'O' and hoping to make our living on the big "i" as long as we can gain permission from Uncle Homeland "S"?

I'm not sure what "we" you're speaking about, but I am the one that typed it as the "E" word. And to be clear, I had no intention of censoring anything. If you had actually read my post, I was attempting to give celente the benefit of the doubt. Now that he hasn't come back to this thread, and as I said in my original post, I can be wrong here and there. No biggie.

What is baffling to me is why you lumped "you guys" into something that I said. No one here is implying anything political, except you. And, for the record, capitalizing on this "EBOLA" thing is not what a decent marketer would do. My point in my post to celente was, is he going after actually helping people to relax from their fear, or making money off of it.

Now, it's not uncommon, on this forum, especially, that someone makes a controversial post with the intent to bring attention to his/her signature. Regardless of the topic.

While I agree it's not exactly moral, it probably has huge profit potential. If it didn't, why would the news and media be overhyping it so much? It's the same reason all of those 'Doomsday' shows came out in 2012 - fear drives sales.

Doesn't seem like it'd be too difficult to drive up fear in paranoid people and then sell some stupid course on how to "survive the Ebola outbreak". They'd never know if it worked or not because they'll never actually get infected anyway. Alternatively, make the course free and load it with affiliate offers, and you've got a list of paranoid people to market to when the next big scare gets hyped out (which won't be long since again, fear drives sales). My father is one of these people and he's making the people he buys from a ton of money. There are many, many people like him and the mainstream media is already doing the hard work of putting the fear into people.

It's not something I would do but the profit potential is high, and you can't deny that. I wouldn't be surprised if someone here was discouraging/shaming targeting Ebola because they're secretly marketing to that crowd themselves.

But to answer you, I haven't ventured so far into desperation where i need to consider such fear based clickbait in my ads.

OP, seriously, what markets are you in that EBOLA is remotely relevant to your stuff? I can think of ways you can creatively swing it as a generic ad but I'm guessing you're in health or at least something related?

Marketing targets either suffering or desire.

There's always a push toward something desirable or a pull away from something undesirable or a combination of both.

I probably wouldn't run an ebola headline, but...

I don't see the ethical difference between targeting a disease that's in the news (hype or not) and:

    -Targeting people suffering from tinnitus
-Targeting people suffering from cancer, diabetes, herpes, high blood pressure, or any other disease
-Targeting lonely people who can't have a successful romantic relationship
-Targeting people dealing with the pain and fear of divorce, break-up
    etc.

All of it is predatory on some level.

I think a lot of the above are probably more predatory, actually, because - for most people ebola is just an abstraction.

People suffering from any of the thousands of things niche marketers go after are in the throngs of that suffering and it's need for relief is directly targeted.

I wouldn't link ebola to my business because it's totally unrelated, irrelevant and probably will be a flash in the pan trend.

I'm surprised at how surprised and taken aback people seem to be though.

I can't imagine that at least 80% of the marketing that's being done by people isn't taking advantage of suffering on some level.

    Great idea @Celente,

It is a prime time to target the news hype. I'm not sure your specific niche though.

I have an organic cleaning product company we're rolling out a campaign focused around ebola. They have a letter certifying by a third party that their product kills the ebola virus. I wish we had stats, we're just starting the campaign. If you want, I can keep you in the loop about it.
