I Cannot use paypal, Who else do you guys recommend?

hi.
while paypal will let me purchase they do not let South africans recieve payment. ( i think it is because we must all be criminally inclined )
so who is the second biggest?
and should i join many and put all the options onto my sales page?
do i offer the buyers the chance to pay direct into my personal account?

will not having Paypal affect my sales percentages?

and then while i am on the subject is it therefore not better for me to simply run every single product of mine through clickbank as they will pay me, and they do accerp paypal?
obviously i would also gain the advantage of being able to get more business through having affiliate business.
by the way i am not too keen to work through proxy servers as i feel that those make me feel like the criminal i am branded as. also i like to keep things as simple as possible.
thanks.
Rob Anderson.

I was recently pointed to a page that explained that the challenge is in your banking laws, not any degree of criminal activity. Reporting requirements, IIRC.

Clickbank is certainly an option. There are people here much better suited to answer that part of your question than me, though.

      hi paul.
100% correct, but paypal themselves have aparently jerked another im guy justin harrison around in a big way. he is supposedly made 50 phone calls and 200 emails to try to get his USA registered company paid but to no avail.
i tried to have my payments sent to a Canadian account that i have and they also do not co operate with me.
sadly they do not seem to respond to queries. all they do is reply with a "read the terms" comment.
i do not see why i cant recieve money to the canadian account.

could i send it all to your bank account?

  • Rob Anderson,

2checkout at 2Checkout.com would be you next best bet.

Should i join many and put all the options onto my sales page?
No, I wouldn't recommend more than 2 since that can cause confusion for your customers.

Do i offer the buyers the chance to pay direct into my personal account?
It is not exactly a personal account, it considered a vendor account and yes, customers pay directly into that account. Funds are release once a week though check, direct deposit, or wire transfer.

Will not having Paypal affect my sales percentages?
2checkout offers a Paypal option without the need to have a Paypal account as long as your product only requires a one-time payment and is sold in the following currencies:
    • Australian Dollar (AUD),
    • Canadian Dollar (CAD),
    • Euro (EUR),
    • British Pound (GBP),
    • Japanese Yen (JPY), or
    • U.S. Dollar (USD)
    I hope this helps,
    Virginia

P.S. It cost about $50 for one account.

If you can't use Paypal, try Moneybookers.

Western Union is available in most countries that don't have PayPal.
I use them for my African clients and never had a problem.

hi - from a fellow south african

if you need a free option, you could look at iportis

however, that leaves you with the problem of credibility of the payment processor. personally, i'm heading for a clickbank account.

you could also look at google checkout, and 2CO. - all of which carry a $ 50 activation fee.

but having a well known payment processor inspires buyer trust.

i used alertpay for a while, until they picked up a problem and could not accept CC payments for a while - with disastrous consequences. not to mention that alertpay is used for a lot of nonsense (GPT sites, matrixes, etc) - which is not good for buyer confidence.

as for your canadian account - remember they can see if you always log in from SA - so you are stuck on that one.

and Paul - the paypal issue has caused the "criminal " bit to become a standing joke among SA marketers.

we are cut off from a multitude of opportunities because of that - both affiliate and not.

the "they think we are criminals" label should actually be pinned on the government - who is afraid we will be able to make money they cannot control and get their share of.

    and it sucks.

      haha.
i would be worried that the government would catch me moaning, but if the dont read their emails how much chance have i got that they are reading this now.
recently i got onto my high horse and emailed half the government, 3 radio stations, and all the biggest newspapers.
i refered to our president saying that if he was serious about getting south africans 500 000 new jobs this year maybe he should try the internet.
er, but i havent heard from anyone yet.
at least you guys are here and conversing with me.
      all the feedback helps.
      thanks.
now if you are a south african and reading this now, go to bed. it is 1 23 am. what are you going to do tomorrow if you dont sleep.
      goodnight.

E-gold is another option. Don't know if they service SA. And everything the others said, moneybookers, alertpay, google checkout. Many people are hesitant to use western union because so many scammers have used it so they can't be traced.
