What is the smartest way to use/host images on a WP blog?

Hi all,
Could anyone advise of what is the right thing to do in terms of images management for a WordPress blog that constantly adds new images?
Is it to use a third party, such as flickr, to host the images and link to them, or upload them all via WordPress (mind that it's a shared host) and use plugins to minimize size and/or use lazy loading?

Appreciate the help!

I would say that you are better of hosting the images yourself, on your WordPress blog.
Then as you have already mentioned use a plugin such as WP smush.it, which will optimize your images without loosing any of the quality.

You could also add a caching plugin like W3 Total Cache, to help keep your site running nice and fast. (what is the right thing to do in terms of images management) i dont know the answer to this. But i would rather have more control over my site than rely on third party image hosts, which could let you down, in several ways.
Good luck and hope you get a few more replies to this question.
