Adsense on a political blog

I am starting a political blog covering current events, politics etc. I am wondering if it is okay to put Adsense on the blog.

I use Adsense on a handful of websites and do not want to do anything wrong to get in trouble with Google.

I registered the domain privately, but the other thing I was concerned about is someone can use a reverse lookup service based on my publisher ID to figure out what other websites I own and can then figure out who I am since my other sites are not private. Is this something I should be concerned about since politics is a hot button issue.

  • There should be no problem with that. I have seen political blogs on the left and right or the political spectrum that have adsense as their ad network.

Just be sure you filter the ad content you want, especially if your blog is going to lean towards one parties platform.

It's a valid concern. People are crazy, especially when it comes to politics.

If you use the same Adsense ID on multiple sites, someone could indeed track you and discover your association with the other sites, and thus your personal information.

And unfortunately, it's against Google's terms to have more than 1 Adsense account. (Unless you set up a separate legal entity - like a corporation.)

Sounds to me like you need to either make the other sites anonymous, too, or don't use Adsense on them.

Many political blogs monetize with taboola. From what I have seen, it is a more profitable way to monetize. You get to choose the ads, unlike adsense where random ads pop up. What if the ad is aimed against the political view of the person? Then they wont click, and it would piss off your reader.

Is your blog politically subversive? This could be a very popular niche to exploit, however it could attract a good amount of negative attention. However, you are assuming a lot such as how your blog will even be popular enough to attract that much heat. It's a nice thought.
