working for a health product company with 30 brands. Want to open affiliate system... help?

hey all...

I'm working for an American company that has over 30 products all related to health stuff... like diet pills of all kinds... omega 3.... scar removal cream... They create new products whenever Dr Oz says something is really benficial...

So they do over 1 million a month in PPC currently, good results. They are basically SOLID GOLD for affiliate marketing...

I'm hired here to start ramping up SEO efforts, and when I see they have 0 affiliate stuff going on, I just see $ $ $ $ $ $ $

They offer things like 1 year money back guarantee, US based customer support (supplemented with a call center in the phillipines..) They have really high quality products compared to some others.. Their main marketing pitch is always that they offer really high quality products, with high clinical concentrations of whatever, money back guarantees, etc etc...

So I wanna setup a massive affiliate system, how would I go about doing that without starting from scratch?

Ideally I'd like to connect with a couple super affiliates, and work with them to setup the tracking necessary, setup the ground rules (strict marketing message is the main thing.. they do not want their brand names to get tarnished by false advertising out of their control)...

They sell millions of their various products monthly, so I know with the right match in the affiliate realm we are talking massive income for all parties involved...

    Hey yourself...

You constantly reference "they" in your post.

Is this something "they" want to do?
Have you discussed this with the VP Marketing or any board member?

Commissioned sales is a great way to get increased traffic and buyers, but unless the company has signed off on the concept of affiliate sales, you could be wasting your time pursuing the idea.

You can suggest them to use an affiliate tracking software. Choose one with all the features you need. You can try Post Affiliate Pro. There you can easily setup commisions and tracking rules or simply ask a support agent via live chat to help you with settings.

If they're a sizeable operation, partnering up with CJ Affiliate by Conversant (formerly Commission Junction) may be the way to go. They represent a lot of big brands. Whether they would take your company on is another matter, but I can't hurt to ask. CJ Affiliate by Conversant (formerly Commission Junction)

There are JV brokers who can get a good affiliate program on the very big lists. They tend to charge $4000 of more before starting, and take about 6 months to get it all done, but will help by checking every part of the process. I've not done this myself, but there are threads including names of such brokers . . .

the above is one thread, and I'm sure you can find others.

Another possibility is that there was a thread on the JV forum in the last few months, about someone who became affiliate manager of a business and multiplied the number of affiliates by 50. Such a person might be able to help, or consult on how to do that etc.

Setting up an affiliate program is not difficult . . . there are various options for doing so including free ones, but when I did it I wanted to know exactly how all the code worked so I could change things as necessary and fix any problems etc. plus my requirements were unusual (selling by auction etc.) so I decided to just write the code myself to implement an affiliate system, using PHP, Cookies, passing variables in the URL, MySql etc. . . . I've done a bit of other programming before and all the basics are available free on the net for anyone to customize and it only took a few hours to get it working, plus you can always hire a freelancer to get certain parts of it done it you get stuck. I like the fact that I genuinely know how my system works, although as the business grows I am sure I will hand that side of things over to someone else at some point!

    Hope that helps

    Chris
