Selling Ebooks on Kindle Bundle Question

Is there anything preventing us from offering bulk discounts to customers? For example selling individual books on the kindle site, but offering a bulk deal on my own website?

    Hi,

I think you can do that only if you are not enrolled in the KDP Select program, which gives the exclusivity to Amazon for your books ( on a 90 days basis.)

    I hope this helps.

that depends on if you agreed to the higher royalty's that gives amazon sole access to your ebook.

      Actually this is inaccurate. ;-)

Clarification - Amazon's royalty is based on retail price, NOT on exclusivity.

For Indie Publishers, 35% is available for books priced $.99 - 2.98 and from $10.00 and above

      70% is available for books priced $2.99 - 9.99

The KDP Select program is the program that demands EXCLUSIVITY and, as I remember, you set the price, still within the royalty guidelines... from $.99 to anything above, with the royalty figured as usual

Amazon ALWAYS wants the LOWEST price on digital, hence the way that publishers work things to get books on Amazon set as permafree... They pubb the books elsewhere for $.00 and then get Amazon to price match.

Thanks so much! Do you think If I took the lower royalty amazon would allow me to promote the bundle option which would be on my site within the books I upload to their website?

Why not bundle the books and sell them in the Kindle marketplace? It can be a very sound strategy, one used by many successful self-publishers, especially if you have a series of books.

As for selling them on your site, unless you've enrolled them in the KDP Select program, you can sell them on Kindle and on your website. The only caveat is that you can't sell them for a lower price than you do on Kindle - if Amazon discovers the lower price, they will simply match it.

In fact, some authors use the price match to give away the first book of a series in hopes of generating a paying audience for the rest of the series.
