Is this a Mentor out there who is a Warrior I could chat with?

Dear Brother and Sister Warriors,

I will fully admit I don't have the experience with marketing or IM that I am finding with most of the members. I am not a newbie but I still haven't found a system / business / strategy that is working consistently so this is why I believe putting out this type of post is cool as it is a chance to meet and dialogue with other warriors and to learn.

In my last post I discuss research I am doing to find a new on-line business as in about a month and a half a pension I didn't know I had coming to be is coming to me. So for the 1st time, I really will have some extra to invest. When asked what to do some people suggested finding a Mentor.

So the goal of this post is two fold then

a) are there Mentors who are Warriors that don't charge an arm and leg who would like to help others Warriors be successful - I mean someone willing to work hard and learn ...

b) are there Mentors who other Warriors have worked with that helped you so so much (as when I watch the sale pages on all the new opportunities with testimonials its too hard to know what is true these days) that you would recommend.

so far in my quest to find what this new business might be, it doesn't appear one can find something without extra money to invest ... which is a bit sad as this means only a select few can succeed ... as for many of us we don't have this kind of extra to make it --

hopefully as normal, I hope my comments will begin some chats ... that could help those who follow this .... as there is no doubt (I have spoken to a couple of warriors now, who are doing well on-line) quite a few of the members have got some really stuff going. But could a good mentor who cares be the best way to go?

thanks - JS

    Hi JS,

You sound a bit "jaded" and you haven't even really started in Infomation Marketing yet. Can I suggest to you two words....You Tube. Everything is there and its free. Watch you tube videos till your eyes pop out....then watch some more. Refuse to spend a dime until you have watched 500 videos on whatever interests you. After a time you will feel a pull to a specific tactic and maybe a niche. That's when you can watch another 100 videos and pick the program you want to spend your hard earned money on.

But then the honeymoon will be over...you will need to take immediate and massive action....or you never will.

Don't loose faith...this is the best time in history to make massive amounts of money.

    To your success.

      Hello JS,

I think you are falling into a trap that many others fall into when first venturing into IM. You don't see it as a business. No one is going to show you how to make money online. People will share with you methods of how THEY make/have made money online. I agree with Terrence01 that you should exhaust Youtube, and especially, the Warrior Forum, and learn as much as you can. I would recommend researching as many methods as you can and then list the pro's and con's of each one based on your experience with each, your comfort with each and where your personal strengths lie. Are you a good writer? SEO magician? Hell, maybe you are the master of basketweaving. Just find out what strikes you as interesting and try to find something that aligns with your personal strengths. It will make the process mroe enjoyable, successful and easy on the wallet. There is no magic shoe. Mentors can be very useful but not until YOU know what it is you want to base your business model around.

So the message I see as I post these type of challenging messages to my brother and sister warriors is - even if you have extra money success is not guaranteed - that it will take a lot of hard work and time - even with a mentor you might not see success - that even if you duplicate what is working for one person it might not work for another

BTW - I am not a beginner with IM, just that the current business we are doing isn't providing enough income and time to expand and look at something new

so because it takes a lot of hard work this is why only 3% might see success
unless you have lots of money to advertise like the big boys, traffic will be hard
      due to all the competition

but isn't there some type of on-line business / process - one can do that will see a better chance of success -

isn't there a way for a group of business minded people to decide to work together where the collective resources of this group could provide more success for everyone?

just throwing more ideas out into this great group of amazing people - JS

  • You don't really need a mentor. All you need is a good little plan to follow. If you browse this forum enough, you should be able to discover that there are ways to make money online that you can do that are simple.

What are your goals? Do you want to build a list? What do you want to do?

Working with a mentor and talking with a respected warrior is confusing for the warrior (this has happened to me before). Why? Because people come up to me asking for ways to make money, and it tell them what I'm doing and how I do it, and they instantly just walk away and never talk back with me.

This is how it is. I tell people to do different things because not everybody is going to want to do offline marketing like I have (which has lots of potential), or create WSOs (which is highly lucrative), or build a list. Find out what you want to do first. See what is within your budget (building a list costs a monthly btw).

You can always PM me if you'd like, and it would gladly send you some help along the way if you ever want it

As the two replies stated. You need to know more about what you want to do before you find a mentor.

Do you want a mentor to show you how to find niches for Amazon products, build a quality blog and drive traffic?

Do you want a mentor to show you how to find JVs, create products and launch WSOs?

Do you want a mentor to show you how to SEO a site and optimize it for AdSense?

Do you want a mentor to show you how to drive traffic to your Facebook fanpage with FB ads?

Do you want a mentor to show you how to optimize a sales funnel and build a list?

Do you want a mentor to show you how to develop, monetize and promote an Android App?

Do you want a mentor to help you find offline leads and close SEO contracts?

You need to do enough research and learning to know what type of mentor you need based on the business you are building and the gaps in your knowledge for that business.

A good quality mentor will help you and teach you step by step what it takes to make money online. A good quality mentor can decrease the amount of time it takes to produce results. A good mentor will save you a lot of money and headaches through trial and error. You can always learn on your on through here on the WF or Google or anywhere but expect mixed opinions and a lot of confusion and a lot of trial and error along the way. When I first started, I had nobody, no help what so ever, I was working on determination. Along that route I spent a lot of money, made a lot of mistakes, and had a lot of headaches. There are many benefits to having a coach, even Michael Jordan had a coach. If you are looking to shorten the learning curve, it's best to seek out 1 knowledgeable person and model them. A good coach will help you and lead you down the right path and will give you a step by step guide to follow. A good coach isn't going to work for free, and is going to expect you to work and do the tasks necessary and won't take any excuses. You either are going to do it or you're not. I think a coach is necessary if you are looking to shorten the learning curve and get results in a faster period of time.

Research..Research...Research before you invest in any product or person. Honestly the "BIG DOGS" aren't going to tell you every "Secret" that they have discovered to help them along the way. That comes with putting in the work, staying dedicated and "jumping off a cliff while learning how to fly on the way down". Most of the secrets will not be told because it has been too much blood sweat and tears involved to just give it away to everyone that ask. Most of the work will have to be done on your part. I'm not trying to scare you just inform you. So many people (including myself) think that IM is just a breeze of a job where you start and make money just like that. You have to get a feel of the market, the niche, the people, the products and etc. That only comes with time my friend so if you think you can learn everything before you start then I'm sorry but that will not happen.

Just learn what you can and research as much as possible before investing. "Fail your way to Success" and remember to just "Enjoy the Journey". (It worked for me)

*Peace and Blessings With You My Friend*

Actually, I don't think access to money is what keeps most people from succeeding in business, especially online business. More often what I think causes failure is that would-be entrepreneurs are looking for secrets and push-button solutions rather than using their own brains to figure out how to provide and monetize value to their customers. They look for short-cuts instead of using creativity and common sense.

One of the great -- and awful -- things about online business is that compared to most industries there are very low start-up costs. I've heard of people running successful businesses who started with under $100. Granted that only works for some business models, others can cost quite a bit more. But overall, whether you're selling books, beds, backpacks or Barbie dolls, it'll generally be cheaper to do it online. Usually, a lot cheaper.

Of course the low barriers to entry in online business is a double-edged sword. It also means that everyone and her mother is able to start a business which leads to lots of competition from lots of people who have neither the aptitude, the knowledge nor the temperment to be successful entrepreneurs. Maybe it's "sad" that being a successful entrepreneur isn't for everybody, but neither is being a successful concert violinist, basketball player or theoretical physicist. It may be sad, but it's also just reality.

As for mentors, personally I wonder how useful they'd be. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seems that most mentors sell a single system that worked for them (or at least they claim it worked for them), a system that even if it did work for them is very likely not going to work for you. Every business, every niche, and every human being is different and what works for one person in one situation may be a total flop for another and vice versa. Moreover, times change and what may have worked at one time may no longer work even for the same business, same niche and same people.

The key to being successful in business is being able to think for yourself and being able to adapt as you learn more about your customers and as market conditions change. While I've never had a mentor or a coach, I doubt very much anybody can teach you that.

      Very well said brother

There are millions of talents, but without perseverance and hardwork its all in vain. The hardest worker out there always gets the cheese.

How do I even start hardwork on my business if I have no cash to start?

Get your ass up and do things you are not comfortable with like a double job or freelancing so you can feed your family and your business at the same time.

Harsh reality but the entrepreneurs finds solutions to real problems. A lot of wannabes tend to create problems in their mind and those are the hardest situations to conquer.

This is reality of any business and its a wiser choice to work for someone who is willing to take that risk of tremendous loss daily as an employee rather than the person not willing to risk time and money at all.
