Help me help my Dad sell digital products (Offline specialists help requested)

Hi everyone,

My Dad is a project manager for a company that sells Payroll and HR software and he's just been put in charge of making their new digital training platform a reality.

The company has around 500 clients that use the full software package and another 700 clients that use their "bureaux" service where payroll is entirely outsourced.

There aren't many/any training requirements for the bureaux clients but the company already does a good line in training solving the software clients' problems with their team of consultants.

The idea for digital training platform is that the company should be able to provide more cost effective training by teaching the basics/fundamentals via video tutorials and then providing help desk time to answer questions that have come up during the courses. This should reduce costs for the clients but ultimately earn the company more money by allowing them to sell more training to people that would have just "struggled through" otherwise.

Initially I suggested that they should provide the digital training as an upsell on the existing training courses so the clients can have a refresher anytime they want. It'd also be a good way to introduce the clients to the format and give them a chance to check out other modules.

So I thought I'd send up the bat signal to all the offline to online specialists of the forum to make some more suggestions for how this could be made success.

Thanks to everyone who contributes,

Andy

I work with 2 companies that do virtual training platforms. In fact, I'm working with one now creating a training & membership site for a client.

One of the companies builds very user friendly video training libraries. YOu'd simply load up your video training catalog & users can click & watch the video of their choice.

The second company offers an incredible solution for video training. The videos are interactive & there are quizzes at the end. You can even have downloadable handouts that go with the videos. From the admin side- you can look at the training & test scores your users have completed. It's very expensive, but it's a full solution & provides a very high level of virtual training.

PM me if you'd like to hear more & I can put you in touch with the right people.

Thanks Rachel. I should've mentioned, it seems the company has already chosen the platform they are going to use to deliver them content despite not knowing yet what the content will be or exactly how it will profit them.

If it turns out I'm wrong about that I'll definitely be in touch.

    Cheers,

    Andy

yikes! That's always a good way to build a site- LOL! It seems that so many people do that though "I want a site that looks like THAT"...but they haven't a clue what's going to be on it.

Hope it all works out for them
