What to offer newbies who don't yet have websites?

Hey everyone,

for TOTAL newbies who want to start doing affiliate marketing online, but don't have any experience nor their own websites.... What would be a coupla best products/services/tools that'd interest them, at the stage prior to getting their websites?

Might be a confusing question, but wasn't able to phrase it better. Suggestions appreciated..

Thanks,

I always offer methods that help them generate the start-up cash for the necessaries like hosting, domains, newsletter, and so forth. It's relatively easy to earn start-up cash. That's my approach. An approach I see others using, though, is simple to take advantage of a service like Blogspot and run CPA offers. I imagine, though, you'd have some difficulty getting accepted to many of the better CPA networks without your own website.

Easy, offer them a complete high converting website with all the bells and whistles pre-installed. A good preparation is the first step and when you see what most come up with now it's really to cry about.

Some sites capture only 0,5 percent of users emails, others as high as 10 percent and that has mostly to do with technical aspects of the website that users are not aware of, eg multiple call for actions, well converting opt-in fields, popup windows when visitors attempt to leave, popups when they are x seconds on the site or click on another page, that kind of things.

I don't see anyone offering such kind of setup.

Then continue based on that trend with click tracking softwares pre-setup, a list of well converting CPA niches, the best places to buy media campaigns, examples of banners / ads that convert well.

Make it so that they only have to pick the niche, write the content and buy the ads but that all the other technical aspects are taken care of and illustrate everything with graphs of which type of ads converted best and what not really.

Well, if the person doesn't have a website yet...

What is stopping them from doing so?

Why invest in other things, when you can just 'bite the bullet' (so to speak)...

    and pickup a website

Agree with jamescanz. Either offer the service, a fast track to getting a website up and running or tips on buying website. Best of luck !

Well, there's the magic bullet they want ... and the real magic bullet they need, but may not immediately understand why. In this response, I'll focus on the latter and take it as a given that you are equipped enough to persuade them of the value of taking the approach towards a real business.

They'll need a foundation in persuasion. Perhaps just triggers by sugarman, persuasion by robert cialdini. And mind control marketing by mark joyner.

They'll need to understand the basic nuts and bolts of owning and running a business.

They'll need something for how to keep themselves motivated until they succeed.

They'll need at least a basic introduction to copywriting and sales materials; this would be beneficial even if they planned to out-source it to someone competent.

They'll need at least a basic understanding of marketing and how to do market research in particular.

Whatever products contain all of that at a reasonable price would seem to fit your needs.

In theory this would be spot on. Unfortunately you will only get a minuscule amount of people to opt in to anything if they know there is more then the slightest effort required.

These are "It's easy to make money online" types who mostly don't even understand the concept of marketing. To suggest they actually educate themselves first is generally met with the Internet version of a blank stare.

I constantly try to teach the basics and core advertising principals but that just doesn't fit with the "get rich quick" crowd. All they want to know is where to throw some money or which buttons to push.

It doesn't matter how much the get rich quick crowd does or doesn't buy. Not all customers are created equal. What matters is which customers, when targeted, yield the most income in the long-term. To provide some insight along those lines:

The get rich quick crowd gets worked up into a heat for 1-2 months, buys everything then quits. Then they do that again 5-10 years later.

The more serious people in your market (the hyper-responsives) will be a long-term customer. They'll buy everything you have then repeatedly e-mail you asking for you to make more stuff so they can buy that too. As they actually apply what they learn from you, as their success grows, they'll also be the ones paying you $1,000 or more per hour for consulting gladly.

The hyper-responsives are also extremely jaded and will run instantly at anything claiming its super easy or giving it a warm glow; put another way, they have extremely overactive "B.S. detectors."

While selling into the get rich quick crowd seems like the way to go because it makes more money upfront, it makes far less in the long run because most of them leave after a month. One of these two options is like bailing a boat with a hole in it, the other lesser so.

The get rich quick crowd is also responsible for 99% or more of your refunds, customer service tickets, and other paperwork-generating activities.

Not to mention selling to an existing customer takes far less effort than selling to a new one ... while costing less because mailing your list is cheaper than buying advertising to replace everyone who keeps quitting.

You may conclude that you can make more in the long run by attracting the customers who will spend more with you end-to-end than catering to people who will be gone in 60 days or less.

Opinions will vary, but personally, I have no qualms with doing more work upfront, and waiting longer to get paid so I can target better clients who will spend more money with me, complain less and also allow me to make more money overall in the end.
