JV Partnerships - Shortcuts To IM Success?

Hi Warriors,

Reading posts on the ‘Warrior Forum’ you will get what I describe as the standard recommendations to achieve IM success.

Here are some examples: find a niche you are passionate about; get hosting, set up your website or blog, add compelling content, set up a squeeze page and autoresponder email messages, drive traffic to your site (free or paid) and boom IM success.

Other standard recommendations include use search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to get 1st page ranking on Google and again boom IM success.

Continuing with standard recommendation number 3: Get someone else’s product from affiliate services like ClickBank or get private label rights (PLR) on a product. Again drive traffic using your affiliate link and boom IM success.

Hogwash?

But is it really that simple? Simple answer = NO!

In 2004, I bought resellers rights on an eBook plus bonuses, set up my first website, used Google ad words to drive traffic to my site but NO Boom! What ever money I made was not significant. Sales did not cover cost of ads.

I tried SEO, got excellent results ranking on the 1st page of Google, Yahoo and Bing, but No Boom.

The affiliate marketing I tried using ClickBank and other similar services did not change the results. NO boom!

A JV Partnership

In July 2014 I started a test run of a joint venture (JV) partnership with (won't say his name here) and BOOM! Success within 34 days.

By August 5, 2014 the value of my commissions were over $1,300.

What I got with my JV partner was a total internet marketing system.

Tested high converting squeeze pages, a high converting sales funnel, autoresponder messages, email swipes, recommended solo ad providers, supporting staff making telephone calls to sell Big commission back end products, regular training webinars, product research and development and customers for a lifetime. And much much more.

In my experience I would definitely say that if I had a JV partnership in 2004 the BOOM would have occurred much sooner.

Yes JV partnerships are shortcuts to IM success.

What’s your experience?

It seems like a whole lot of folks are looking for more then an opportunity, a lot seem to want it all spelled out. When you are beginning you need to have something to offer as the junior JV. You have to creative at times.

I think anyone starting out as a newbie in IM, should be presented with all possible options including JV.

JVs have also evolved to include the online version of buying an offline franchise like KFC or Wendy's. You can now actually purchase access to a fully integrated IM system.

I TOTALLY agree. With the right JV partnership you are working with someone who already has the experience, tools and connections to move things along.

Well I had a first big sale with a joint venture partner but we don't have the same work ethic so we part ways after the sale. So look for someone who will work as hard as you in your venture and you will kill it better.

If they are or are not is heavily dependent on the context of where your business is right now. As a rule of thumb, setting them up tends to take a lot of upfront effort before it pays off ... but if you chose your potential partners well, it pays off big time in the long-term. Often, if the numbers are adjusted over a long period of time, it ends up being one of the greatest outputs for the least effort overall.

It can be difficult to arrange these, though, when you're first starting out, because the best potential partners tend to be picky about who they'll partner with. Also, it requires learning a new set of skills. Particularly, how to "work the phone," and make more complex and higher-priced sales (which is harder than selling lower cost items such as e-books or even higher-priced courses).

If you rush into it, and make partnerships hastily with low-quality potential partners, the deals tend to go bust, and not stand the test of time.

For these reasons, I'd agree it's a solid option. One to certainly have on one's radar ... but when to begin doing it will depend on where your business is right now. It's worth waiting to start for when you can close the high-quality deals that can last for years. And also when you have the time to learn how to find those and learn the skills to close the deals.

      Hello Work 1099,

You've identified some very important considerations when looking for JV partners. So the steps to take would be:

      1. Check out the reputation of the person. You can do Google and YouTube searches- 'person's name + recommendations'

      2. Also search out reviews (Google) on the person's products: 'product name + reviews'

It's not difficult anymore to obtain high quality JVs if you look for the 'franchise type' JV. That is purchasing access to a fully integrated IM system which is the online version of purchasing an offline franchise in KFC or Wendy's.

      Thanks for your comments.

ACandi, if you don't mind me asking where did you find successful franchise type JVs? What was your investment and how long did that relationship last?

          To IM Phoenix,

I subscribe to a number of lists where I get recommendations on business opportunities. I think it was pure luck seeing a subject line that attracted me and I checked it out. That was a few months ago in June 2014.

My test run of the partnership cost me $200. The relationship is ongoing because I locked in the partnership using a four month payment plan of $600 a month.

Many people that engage in the JV section of this forum will have come across my username.

I've met some brilliant people here and run some excellent JVs. Often you can come from a few angles in a JV:
    - Having brilliant ideas but no one to back you in with capital
    - Having capital but no time to execute ideas
    - Having a working plan but needing capital to scale

In saying that, I've been involved from all aspects and partnering with someone definitely helps as long as you do your due-diligence on that person.

I've turned down people that have promised the world because I've read something online about them doing a search which changed my perception of their character.

On the other hand, I've spoken to some for fifteen minutes and given them $1000 to test and come back to me with results.

It's a risky business, but when things plan out well it's a great experience to have.

I value hard work, drive, outside-the-box thinking and honesty - a strong track record is never a hindrance either.

      To: IM Phoenix,

Just 4 months in and I'm getting consistent results.

I drive traffic to the JV system and get consistent results. Right now I'm seeking to build a foundation for recurring income with a membership product in the system. The leads, customers and clients I generate through the JV System are mine for life. The drawback: they are on their list not mine.

I started driving traffic to my own list and autoresponder follow-up emails from August 22 - 31, 2014; I got 45 opt ins and 1 sale. I've paused that effort for now until I get more training in automated email follow ups.

      Hi Lightlysalted,

Simply put it is getting into a business venture or project with a partner.

The post by 'danielgb 123' on 9th November 2014; 11:34 pm, outlined examples of business ventures where you may need a partner. They were listed as follows:

      - Having brilliant ideas but no one to back you in with capital
      - Having capital but no time to execute ideas
      - Having a working plan but needing capital to scale

In the above examples you will need a partner to complete the project.

What I did was purchase access to an integrated online marketing system that was already developed, tested and producing successful results. That sort of JV is an online version of buying an offline franchise in KFC or Wendy's.

      Hope that helps.

          Hi Boyd,

I got an email promoting the program I eventually joined.

Just before posting this reply, I did a Google search on 'internet franchise opportunities' and found a directory type website with opps from as low as $200.

I would advise however that whatever you do to make 'Due Diligence' searches before investing.

Yes, a JV partnership can work wonders, but getting JV partners isn't super easy, especially those who can take your business to the next level. You have to spend a considerable amount of time networking and building relationships with the top guns, especially if you yourself don't have a healthy list to promote products to. And of course you need a profit pulling funnel in place. The top affiliates get flodded with JV requests everyday and not everyone with a product ends up getting good JV partners.
So, in essence it's not really a shortcut. It's more of a business model actually and you have to put in some serious efforts to get things right.

, supporting staff making telephone calls to sell Big commission back end products,
I don't sell those products where the merchant phones the purchaser to sell a backend. I only sell those products where when the product is delivered it is the end of the process. I can't control what the merchant will say to the customer, I I like to be in control of the communication. The rest of your approach I concur.

I have found the easiest way to do get an JV deal is to make some affiliate sales for the prospective partner beforehand, they always take notice when you approach them!

Setting up JV partnerships is a great way to accelerate your success in internet marketing (IM) or any other online niche you might want to pursue.

JV partners can be your product promoters or someone who creates a product with you, or even someone you interview. All are great ways to go on a "joint venture".

Start off with interviewing up and coming people in your niche, they will be flattered and you will make a connection, as well as an instant product to sell (great for newbies).

Then you will be able to achieve higher EPC's and get affiliates on board to promote your product (more JV partners).
