Do any of you actually write 5 articles per hour?

I've been reading up on bum marketing......and apparently 5 or more articles per hour is supposed to be the norm? I've always been a decent writer.....but yikes! Writing fast has never been my strong point, guess I better start practicing. Does anyone here actually write that fast? Please share your tips! Thanks!

    yep.

practice writing with a timer. Set it for 10 minutes and just write fast.

Don't go back and correct as you write. do corrections when you are finished.

write about what you know or do your research beforehand, (proper research, not the look at three articles stuff)

    use dragon naturally speaking.

come up with a list of topics you are going to write about before you start writing.

the more you practice it the faster you get, but realistically I think some people just hate writing, so they are probably better of outsourcing.

Yup, this is what I do. I set the timer. Write an article and see how long it takes. Then, set the timer for 5 minutes less and write another. Once you get comfortable with that pace, shave off another 5 minutes until you can write one article in 10 minutes.

        Hello,
I'm lucky if I do 5 articles a month. If I could do 5 articles an hour it would say serious cash would be coming my way and pretty fast also. Go to ezinearticles and click on expert authors on the left. You'll see the guy at number 2(sean). That guy can write and so can the number 1 guy. I know for sure the number 2 guy is an internet marketer and he teaches article marketing. He teaches that you must submit massively to the article directories.

So if you can write a lot of articles you should be able to make a nice income.

        Good Luck writing,
        Mike

If I'm writing in a new niche it takes maybe an hour an article. But once I've done quite a bit of writing in the same niche and done a lot of reading/research on the niche, then it becomes much easier to hit the 10 minute and below mark, but it would still take some planning of article titles and a list of keywords prepared beforehand. So I guess it takes a bit of preparation.

and I never thought that one article is more than enough well I guess you needed to practice more in your writing skills. but for me when I tried writing something like for 3 paragraphs it took me 3 hours to make it instead of an hour lol.

Yes like j hogan said. Not a fast writer but I read a free report that helped me. It was along the lines of research & take notes.

Then open your word pad or whatever and tape a piece of paper over your monitor so you just write and don't worry about type-o's, grammar or punctuation even.

Write a few then go back and fix them up, SEO (search engine optomize) them w/ keyword string. Rule of thumb is 2% so use keyword phrase roughly every 50 words and be sure to include it at the beginning of the title.

Also I find that I work best in spurts so when it's flowing man, keep it flowing w/o distraction whenever possible.

I started off closer to a rate of one article every five hours.

It's constantly improving though. Under one hour now .

As mentioned above the secret is to sit down, start writing and keep writing.

I can humbly offer a couple of tips:

      1) Write about something you know about.

      2) Don't sacrifice quality for quantity.

      Best Regards,

5 articles an hour for me is crazy. Maybe with DNS it is possible.

For topics i am familiar with, it usually takes me 30 minutes to write a 400-500 word article. And for those which require research, definitely over an hour!

Guys, quantity is NOTHING. Its all in proper research, really. I take MOST of my time actually researching niches and products (cbengine.com and market samurai)...i write my articles only then when i know i found a great keyword with low competition.

The actual "act" of writing is already the last step, only after i found a product and after i found a good set of potentially good keywords for that niche/product.

Don't waste your time writing "5 articles per hour" just to write "many articles", i don't think this would be productive?

It's a little bit like with adwords ads. Everything needs to be optimized. A good written ad with a good keyword and high CTR is better than having 10 ads for a product up with badly researched keywords and bad wording.

But yes, once niche and KW is clear and the first article is done...the rest go faster

I can write 5 in an hour if it's a topic I know well, but I always do my keyword research first before writing a batch of articles. I have my list of titles and resource boxes ready to go before I write as well. Writing 5 in an hour is all very well, but how long could one actually keep that up? My article limit is still only about 10-15 per day - any more and I'd burn out very quickly.

If say you are doing them about internet marketing write down the list of lots of long tail keywords and use these as your base. When i first did bum marketing i found it hard to stick to the rules but now it can just flow.

here is a link to a good free bum marketing guide to give you a push in the right direction:

Break into affiliate marketing with bum marketing

5 in an hour sometimes become a miracle if it really happens. You see article is not about writing its required skill, imagination of structuring and good thinking capability. So far its seems to be hard one to write that much number of articles in an hour.

Geez! I hadn't heard that statistic. If that's the norm, I'm waaaaaaay behind....! I'm doing good to get two articles done in an hour. The articles I come up with are keyword targeted and informative, but I keep hearing that quantity will get you farther than quality, so maybe I should reevaluate my strategy here...

Not including research time I think 5 articles per hour is no problem. I would suggest doing all your keyword research and then research the topic - arrange info into however many articles you want - and then writing 5 in an hour will be pretty easy.

I remember in High School one of my Ancient History teachers(we had 2 for some reason) told the class that we needed to work very hard on our essays because in all his years of teaching he had never seen anyone write an essay in half an hour and get over 80%.

I told him I could, and he challenged me and said if I did it he would give me $40. there was exactly 25 minutes left in class, I went to the computer lab, wrote my essay and then handed it in right at end of class. I got 87%.

He never gave me the $40 though. Also the other history teacher hated me from that day on for some reason

This made me think of my last English Literature exam at school. A large portion of the marks came from ten pieces of coursework we were supposed to have submitted throughout the year leading up to the exam - I'd submitted four during the year, and cobbled together the other six (by the skin of my teeth) while sitting in the school cark park during my lunch hour on the day of the deadline. How I passed that one, I'll never know.

I very much doubt I could manage the same thing now - article writing takes me forever (OK, forty minutes or so ) and is my least favourite part of what I do. Five an hour? No chance. The way I see it, even though I am not going to compare well with the keyboard whizzes who can manage to pull this one off, I'm still in front of the people who look at article writing, say 'I can't do that' and don't do anything at all.

Ten or twenty articles a week isn't a lot compared to five an hour, but the effects soon add up and will almost always amount to more than those of the 'nothing' that's often accomplished when you're deterred because other people's productivity seems unrealistic compared to your own.

Here in the UK, we had a sit-com in the seventies called Fawlty Towers. Not many episodes were ever made, but it's still remembered and talked about now, long after popular sit-coms of the time that ran for series after series have been forgotten. It doesn't matter if you're not as prolific as other people are - if you think it's worth writing, then just get it out there.

  • It also depends on whether the articles are orginal and how many words they contain and the subject.

if they are rewrites, only about 500 words then yes 5 per hour is right.

If they are original articles with 500 words then its more like 3 per hour depending on the research that needs to be done for each article.

Nope. Never have, never will. But that's because the purpose of my writing is different than bum marketers.

However, I do find that having a timer helps keep me focused. And a really fun & EVIL timing tool can be found at...

I have found that I can write a good quality article in 1/2 hour.

Back in my early days, when I thought it was all about quantity, I was whipping them out like crazy! The trouble is that my CTR for these articles were horrendous because no one wanted to read through what looked like a stream of consciousness!

I believe that in the long run that if you go for the "massive article submit" approach, you will see very little return for your time....and probably suffer article burnout.

Thats some serious volume. How could you produce quality content at that sort of rate though. Surely something would have to be sacrificed.

5 articles an hour is a pretty high expectation. You might be able to do it once; but not over and over again. Why not just hire someone to write your articles for you? This has been a huge benefit for me; as I no longer get burned out trying to write.

Sure you can! 5 articles an hour is definitely possible.

But why does everyone keep forgetting that such articles also need time for editing? Doesn't that count?

I believe in writing an article that screams quality, so even though I know I can write an article in 10 minutes, I don't/won't do it.

5 articles an hour? I haven't managed to do that (yet?).

If it's something I've already researched, or it's a topic I have experience with, I can probably write 4 good articles in an hour only.

My content writers can do it more consistently than I can, but then again, that's what I hire them for. :-)
