How to recruit writers?

Hi everyone. I've been a long time lurker on WF but just recently became a member in order to start posting. I have a question I'd like to run past you guys.

I'm developing a content writing service, and I'd like to know how to recruit other professional content writers, marketers, editors, copywriters, etc. in order to broaden the scope of services beyond my own limited skills and experience. I really don't even know where to start. I have no experience in website building. Is there a WordPress theme I can use to pre-screen writers and manage their membership?

Where would I even start for something like this?

Thanks for any advice.

I had a website developed for a similar purpose. It ran me to only $500, but I get a pretty decent discount.

You can probably do it yourself - well - for around $100 / $150 if you go with a Wordpress CMS and use a premium theme with the appropriate plugins.

It's quite a big question. What I'd do is speak to a web developer. Get a few quotes and go from there. They should each present a proposal and you'll get a great idea of what can be achieved.

I am a writer. Well, if you have problems coming up with contents, I can help you with SEO optimized articles. What do you think?

The easiest way to install WordPress is to use Softaculous. First you will need to have a domain name, then get a web hosting with cPanel function. Once you have your web hosting setup and your hosting details, you can log in into the cPanel.

Once inside the cPanel, scroll down to look for Softaculous. Click on it and select WordPress to install. Right I found these two videos on YouTube that shows you how to go about from there. It takes only about 1 to 2 minutes to install WordPress using Softaculous.

          These two videos are the latest;

Hope this helps and all the best

If you want to have any recurring clients you better have a top notch dashboard style thing, take a look at iwriters or textbroker to get some inspiration. If you're struggling to install WP then hire a web developer first.

Secondly have you thought about how you are going to promote this site? Finding writers is the easy part, there are plenty at these forums and at freelance sites like oDesk / Freelancer.com / ELance / Fiverr.

Thanks for the info. I think I wasn't clear in my original post. I'm not necessarily looking for writers to fill a blog or add content to my own site. I'm looking for writers who'd be willing and interested in providing their services on my website in order for me to market my writing services to a broad array of customers (content, resumes, etc..). So, a customer comes to the site with a job in mind, and we facilitate the need via a plethora of writers with various specialties.

Yes I was perfectly aware of that while writing my response.

You just need to use some creativity to pull them over and perhaps use fake accounts in case you get banned as officially it's not allowed to exchange contact details.

Wordpress and theme installation isn't going to be difficult. If you have C-panel it should be a breeze with the wordpress installer programs available.

If you are doing it yourself, you might find it a bit challenging to be able to set up the membership area. Setting one up using a WP membership plugin isn't difficult, but you'll have to be able to figure out the part where your clients submit projects and they get autopublished and become available for writers immediately (I mean if that's what you want to do).

If you just want to set up a custom site with a membership area for the writers where they can sign up and get access to whatever you put in the member's area (it could be article writing jobs), I might be able to help you.

    P.M me if interested.

So you want to build a site similar to iwriter.com or something. You can head over to freelancer or odesk etc and post a writing gig, then when you get bids, contact these writers and tell them they can get regular work by joining their site. You can do something similar on Fiverr, search for article writing gigs and contact the gig sellers. You can also advertise this on Warrior forum through signature and through WSO.

Also advertise on other forums. Some of the methods I mentioned are not whitehat, Do them if you feel comfortable.

Just getting writers to signup at your site is one of the steps. The other step is to get customers to regularly place articles on your site. Once that happens, you can more easily get more writers by mentioning how many writing assignments are available at your site. You need to make it easy for writers and buyers to place orders and keep the safety of both parties in mind.
