PopupAlly seems great, I haven't tried it but I will. Pro version is probably 10 times better.

I have write a blog post recently about Wordpress opt-in forms, there are really plenty of options and plugins for Wordpress that can help you grab email subscribers.

Most popular ones are Optin Monster, PopupAlly, WP Subscribers... (as premium ones)

But you have also many free ones like SumoMe apps.

  This is what Autoresponder companies do, is provide a way for you to collect email addresses with optin forms. Then they keep the list on their computers so you can email all the people on your list at once.
  
  You don't need to use GetResponse forms, but they have a bunch of them and if you know a bit of coding you can create custom forms if you don't like the ones they offer.
  
  A list building plugin is a bit of marketing speak that could cover a number of functions from popping up to popping under or even just making nice looking custom forms.
