Where should I go next?

Hi guys...

Please can you advise where you think I should go next...

I run a site at Magic Shop for Amazing Magic Tricks From the UK .. it was hit by panda and others and have run my link audits and submitted google webmaster revisions but although all the hype is about content is king i've been advised recently that links still are very important..

I still keep jumping now from page 2 to page 1 for terms "magic shop" but used to be at the very top for both "magic shop" and "magic tricks".

I think my main question is.. what direction do you think I should go in marketing wise. I have been looking closely at competitors including "magic shop .co .uk" who appear to be far higher and much better marketers than me. One of their backlinks also pointed to: keyword spy.com so they are obviously spying on competition.

Please can you guide me to what I should be doing to get back high up and the sort of plan I should be looking to achieve.

although I am competent with online website / wordpress i'm not a programmer but also finding it hard to time manage correctly as I perform many evenings as a magician and run magic world as a shop in the daytime amongst other things so spending 2 hours a day marketing is simply impossible.

I have outsourced in the past too and a friend also mentioned to web spin articles from books and find good but cheap writers to submit to top article sites daily... what would you recommend?

Many thanks.. I know this is vague... I'm just a little lost with the internet marketing scene and magicworld.co.uk is a long-standing domain name, with affiliate system at shareasale.com.

    First - terrific site; I really love it.

    I'd be willing to bet your competition can be crushed in this niche; and it's something I know a thing or two about. (Not the niche, but the crushing.)

    Here's the thing...

    Ranking page #1, position #1 is far from essential to dominate the market. In fact, it's hardly even a consideration. Anyone you hire for this project (and you will need to do so, really) should view your money site as a slow work in progress. Yes, indeed, they should be doing all they can for it, but it should be happening constantly and in the background and playing second fiddle to their main efforts.

    Likely, your competition in this niche is exposed. I haven't researched; just an educated guess.

    Provisionally:

    1. Satellite sites to capture the primary buying keywords.
    2. Social network dominance.
    3. Lead capture.
    4. Keyword dominance (if a platform can rank for a keyword, you need to be on it).

    Those are your 4 main areas and within those are around 2 dozen areas. And those are for starters.

    Before I finished up here:

    1. Offline.
    2. Apps.
    3. Media buys

    Apps, in particular, could send you an absolutely unholy amount of traffic, given your niche.

    I hope that gives you some ideas, some jumping-off points.

    I agree the site is awesome. I would say start using social media like crazy & see if you can get some Youtube videos to go viral

    Put together a campaign and buy traffic from targeted sources and optimize it.

    Once you get your numbers down and have a profitable campaign you can scale from there and generate consistent predicable growth and never worry about a google rank or money again.
