For The Takers Out There

Hey Warriors!

Are you a giver or a taker when it comes to learning how to make money online? Many people help out in forum threads, post useful free blog posts, send out great autoresponder tips, answer email to help out, etc.

Some don't do any of that.

I read my horoscope today and i loved it! It sounds like how I try to live my IM experience.

"If you're lucky enough to do well, and rise to the top, then it's your responsibility to send the elevator back down for someone else."

I love that! I'm not in the penthouse yet but I might be mid-way up the building. I can "send the elevator back down" for someone on the ground floor.

Now some people I KNOW will have the attitude, "it's not MY responsibility to help others - I did all the work myself, etc." Can't argue with people who have no desire to help - that's not who this post is for.

It's for those who mistakenly believe that since they aren't in the penthouse yet, then they can't be of any use. You don't have to be called a Goober to give back.

I've heard this in other areas - like weight loss (your current is weight is always someone else's GOAL weight).

So send the elevator back down.
Find someone newer than you and reach out.

Tiff

EDIT: Allen, I am LMAO at the auto edit your system did - I wondered why someone else used the word "Goober" in one of their posts when g.u.r.u would have fit so much better! That was funny.

    Hi,

Me too, I really like this image. Very nice painted image.

"If you're lucky enough to do well, and rise to the top, then it's your responsibility to send the elevator back down for someone else."

I think it's important to help others. The law of sowing and reaping is really a crucial law. So, I just try to follow it. Just give and expecting nothing in return.

Thanks for your post! I enjoyed it.

It's why I love this business because you can give without thought for getting back. Now I know we are all here to earn a living, but the new law on the 'net is to give, give and give.

I'll be the first to admit I got into this business to "get" or take, but folks (or Goobers ) like Tiffany and Craig Desorcy, Tim Gorman, Tony Shepherd, Steve Wagenheim, Dr. Mani and so many MANY more have shown those of us still coming up - just what it means to be a giver.

Thanks, Tiff, and all of you, for giving!

This is going to come out all wrong, but I hope, if nothing else, it's crystal
      clear.

I've reached a point in my IM career where I have very little desire to "take"
anything from anybody as far as sucking out all the info I can from them and
giving nothing back for it. I honestly don't remember the last time I learned
any ground breaking tactic that took my business to the next level. It was
probably about 2 years ago when I finally doubled my yearly income.

Today, I have no problem just sharing info without expecting much, if
anything in return. The only reason I even still sell info products is because
I still have some bills to pay. But when my wife and I retire and we can
live off of her pension, tax shelter and whatever we have socked away in
the bank, I'm going to continue creating info products for marketers but
will be giving them all away in the form of free WSOs, giveaways, a huge
site that I plan to put together that I hope to become the one stop for
getting marketing info, and whatever else I can think of.

Ironically, in order to do this, I will have to keep up with my education or
I will have nothing to offer. But most of my education that I get today I
get on my own through trial and error.

Also, having just lost my mom, I have a different perspective on this
whole business thing anyway. I won't try to put it into words because I
can't. Let's just say that my priorities today are totally different than they
were just a couple of months ago.

I used to want to be remembered as somebody who was successful.

Now, I want to be remembered as somebody who truly cared about
others and gave what he could.

If that sounds corny, sappy, or whatever, so be it.

      But it's how I feel.

Because of that, I have scrapped my first physical product because I
just don't have a need to sell some high priced item just because I know
how to. In other words, the thrill of the conquest just doesn't do it for
      me anymore.

This is probably more than anybody expected me to share and may come
      as a surprise to many.

      Losing my mom changed me.

      Probably forever.

    Hi Tiffany,

I have this same quote hanging on the wall in my office. Not the exact same wording but close enough.
Really keep things in perspective....reminds me where I am, where I'm going...and where I came from....also that others are on the same journey....just a few floors below & can benefit from the little bit I can offer.

    Thanks,
    Ken

In all fairness, it gets tiresome.

Last week, I tried to match up a newbie article writer with a prospective client who thought my rates were too high. The newbie just plain never bothered to deliver the free sample article he promised.

So he walked away from a few hundred dollars right there, and who knows how much in the long run. And every time something like this happens, I'm just a little bit less inclined to bother next time.

I understand this feeling. I have had the same exact thing happen to me - frustrating. BUT, when you have success stories coming back and saying, "You saved my life" (meaning financially, way of life etc), the good feeling far outweighs the annoyance with those who waste their opportunities.

      Don't give up

This sentiment goes very well with a quote I believe I coined (if it was someone else, please let me know).

"Success is not about moving up; it's about reaching out." ~Michael Oksa

Fits with the analogy of success as an elevator or ladder.

    All the best,

I think the thing that a lot of people don't understand is that the best way to get ahead IS helping others. Classic example... we all have something to sell, and on this forum (and many others) you do that in your signature. Now let me ask you, what signature are you more likely to click on... the person that contributes nothing, or the person that contributes awesome content for free?

So by contributing, you are driving your sales (and of course feeling warm and fuzzy at the same time )
