Which one you think is easier ?

Hello Warriors, I have a simple question.
Which one of the below you think is easier to do than the other?

1. Selling one(1) WordPress theme (worth $55 per theme)
or,
2. Selling four(4) premium fonts (worth $8 per font file)

Thanks.

Hmm hard to pick as the niches are not related. You are comparing apple to oranges here.

    Cheers,

I would prefer option one as paid Themes are generally priced around the $55. People tend to get more value with 1 theme rather than 4. I'll give you my own example, I purchased a quality theme for $67 and took action immediately whereas a week later I saw buy all 5 themes for a smaller amount and unfortunately it's gathering dust - it's just human nature

Why pick one over the other. Wouldn't either one be just as easy to do?

    Or do both.

But is your real question, which is easier to sell?
You could offer one as a bonus with the purchase of the other. Adjust your price accordingly.

    Just my two cents worth.

I would need to see an actual sample of your template to know if it's even worth buying. No one can make generalizations as to whether or not something is worth buying, without seeing it first.

If I were going to try to answer your question, then I would say that it would be easier to sell the full theme as that will provide more of a turn key solution for the person starting up a blog. Price has nothing to do with it as you offer more value with the higher priced theme.

If you are asking which is easier to sell, then in my opinion (1) would be easier since I think more people are looking for a premium theme that for a premium font. Besides there are places where people can download great fonts for free, but not really the same case for premium WP themes.

I think it would be easier to sell a wordpress theme.

But it also depends on who do you sell it to!

Are you talking about creating your own product or promoting somebody else's?

I used to sell a WordPress theme that I'd created myself a few years back and it was reasonably popular at the time. I used to add new features fairly often anyway, but there were several occasions during that time when a minor change by WordPress in their code meant more coding for me and when WordPress went to version 3.0 with custom menus and the like I had to go into total coding whirlwind to get the theme compatible in time.

There were also the odd support questions to answer, which was no big deal, but it can be too much for some people. I know this because I eventually sold my own theme to someone who didn't last five minutes with it before he disappeared into oblivion.

I've never sold a font before and can't see why there would be much to it (font sellers can enlighten me!). I do know that there's more to selling your own WordPress theme than getting people to hit the 'buy' button though.

Thanks RWBiggs for your suggestions. I want to promote them as an affiliate. So I can not provide those for free. Thanks.

@JohnnyPlan Thanks for your reply. Actually I am talking about selling themes as an affiliate. Those are the themes people really buy. So there is no question about the quality of the themes. I also think its easier to sell a theme rather than a font. Again, thank you very much.

    @MeelisM Thanks!

Diana Lane Thanks for sharing your experiences. As you know I promote themes as an affiliate. So I am on the safe side! :-)

Thanks to everyone. I think its better to promote themes rather than fonts. ;-)

Exactly! I also think so. Just making sure that if I was right. Thanks!

Quite hard to pick any one of two of them. Moreover, I feel first one will found to be a better deal for you. As the WordPress visitors are always looking for the newest themes.

I do belive that worpress themes is a huge market and therefore probably easier, however if you can identify a market for fonts you could try it. Find the market and cater to that market is always easier than picking a product and then finding a market for it or even building a market for it.
    Best of luck to you.

    Go with the theme.

I'm a font junkie, and there are buyers with a worse font addiction than myself, but I believe the market for themes is much more vast. Not only that, but you have logical high-ticket cross-selling opportunities.
