I've read here and there about newbies starting out and making nothing or very little in their first few months. So being a newbie myself, I guess I'm looking for some motivation here. Anybody here have some good success in their first month as an absolute beginner? And by success I mean at least made a thousand or more in the first month?

Well I would say FIRST month because when we started internet marketing in December 2008 it took about two months of work before our first website was up and running. But in the first month we were actually making sales, yes it was at least a thousand in that first month. So its definitely possible! (This wasn't a product in the internet marketing niche.) Can I answer any specific questions you might have?

Congrats! I was feeling a little disillusioned by all the stories of people making nothing at all as a beginner, so I'm just wanting to hear some success stories to get me motivated. Thanks for sharing!

We worked pretty hard to do that...I'm not going to say it just happened overnight but I definitely know now that it is possible if you just put everything you are learning into action! Best of luck!!

        Newbie. First month. $1000.

        OK I'll bite.

Let's look at how we can work out what this would take, and then you can do the numbers and decide on your best approach.

I'll assume you are talking about making $1000 using some form of internet marketing, as your post was a little sparse on details. I'll be pulling (realistic) figures from thin air for the same reason, but it's the formula that's important. Also let's say you have $100 start-up costs (hosting etc)

So, working backwards - bear with me - how many sales do you need to make?

If you make $25 per sale, you will need 44 sales in a month.

And how many prospects will that take? If your overall conversion rate was 1%, then that's 100 prospects per sale, or 4400 prospects for the month.

If you're selling your own product you will need to research it, create it, create a sales page and set up payment processing.

If you're thinking of affiliate marketing you will need to do things like product research, maybe write some reviews and articles and put up a web site.

How long will that take? Let's guess a week?

Three weeks left and 4400 prospects to find. That's over 200 unique visitors a day you'll need from a standing start. This is the limit of my knowledge as I don't know how you could get so many targeted visitors so quickly for free. Sure there's PPC but that costs, so you would need even more sales to cover it, that's if you don't lose your shirt learning it.

Of course this is just a single scenario and really your options are unlimited. There's online, offline, physical products and all kinds of things you could do.

What I am trying to demonstrate it that with a little thought and some basic math you can do the numbers yourself and figure out what it's going to take to reach your goal, and then decide if you are willing to do it.

Anything is possible but that doesn't mean it's likely.

I was ecstatic just to make my first sale within a month, but that doesn't mean you can't make $1000. If you find a way, let me know.

        Best of Luck,

Making $1000 in a month as a complete beginner is going to be very hard to do. Making money online is a process and has to be learned just like anything else. Getting that out of the way, I made $62.11 in my first week as a COMPLETE beginner, so it is possible to start making money online as a newbie. $1000 a month in the first month? Possible, but very tough to do.

I started with a hybrind approach. I felt it was important to have my own product and not go with an affiliate or PLR business. The business is in security and it had an online and offline aspect to it. I have now started a second biz with travel services. I have done over 1k and I think working online and offline has helped.

I guess its possible, if you combine all the methods there is, and also do a back breaking researching, IM, and offline marketing. But it is possible.
