3,000 posts and a "secret" share

I have always enjoyed the Warrior Forum because my education, training, 35-year professional career, and personal interests are all in small business development.

I've quietly passed the 3,000 post milestone on the WF. It reminds me that I've spent a lot of time here, mostly trying to be helpful to other marketers. It's what I enjoy doing.

I know there's really nothing special about 3,000 posts . . . heck, there are committed people here that have over 20,000 posts . . . and some, like my friend Lexy, who is approaching 30,000! Yikes, I'm a newbie in comparison!

Anyway, I want to thank all of you for the time you spend here trying to help others. I know I personally learn a great deal from you, something new on nearly every visit.

Today I wanted to share a web site with you. I call it a "secret" simply because I have never heard it mentioned here at the WF (maybe I just haven't looked in the right threads).

One of the very best ways to develop a successful business is to model others in your same market that are already successful. No, I didn't say copy them or steal their content. Model what they are doing in their selling system. That's no secret really . . . like the Geico commercial says, "Everybody knows that!"

But just how do you do it? How do you de-construct or dissect a competitor's site?

How do you find out what the top web sites in your niche are doing? Where does their traffic come from? Where are they advertising? What countries are they targeting? What keywords bring them traffic? What search engines are sending traffic? What are their site's page views, bounce rates, time on site? What are they doing with social media? Display advertising? Ad networks? Do they have a mobile app? And on and on.

I have no affiliation or relationship with the site I'm going to share. Go there. Type in (for example) WarriorForum.com. See what kind of information you can learn about the WF. Then type in your top competitor's URLs. See what they are doing. Model their marketing systems. Get profitable fast.

SimilarWeb.com

Have a wonderful day. Share helpful things with other people.

The very best to all of you,

Steve

Wow thanks for this share! It's funny, one of my instructors at school has said some of his most successful ventures have been in finding a successful website, mimicking it ( in concept ) and improving on or adding a key aspect to it. Going to share this with my class .

thanks for the share. That's a really cool website!

You're right. If you want to be successful in your chosen market, emulate (not copy) those who already are. I am living proof of that.

And, no, you're not a noob. I can tell by your posts. You're a savy and experienced marketer.

It always "interests" me when someone uses a "post count" as a yard stick to measure success.

Really it boils down to time. Ive been here since 2008 (longer if you count the old forum) and I have around 700 posts.

That's not because I don't like the forum. It's just that most of the time I am too busy doing things that make me money to spend too much time posting.

From my experience, how in the WORLD can someone post 20 to 30 THOUSAND posts within 6 years and be successful at the same time?

In my experience, that, while not impossible, is a longshot.

    How do I know?

Because I am successful but the catch is, it takes me 60 hours a week.

The point here is...... you're successful because you're successful. It's not about post counts. That's just a status symbol and those don't go to the bank.

I can spot poor people driving BMWs, and likewise can be said about post counts.

Congrats and that's indeed a great post!

I also give this advice to people to just model what other succesful marketers are doing. You don't have to reinvent the wheel to become succesful.

Have you ever been on a sports or auto forum? The "high" post counts here are nothing compared to what you see in other forums.

As for 'stat' sites, when I see one in my server logs I block them for reasons like this thread, and to save bandwidth.
