    Hi,

YOU NEED 1 system that covers everything!!!

Not just bits here and bits there.

And of course if you're buying WSO after WSO from different marketers
then you're getting conflicting answers every time you pick up a new WSO.

Bits of the jigsaw puzzle rather than the COMPLETE BLUEPRINT.

You need to pick 1 coach, marketer, mentor to guide you through the
WHOLE process of building a successful business online.

I mean if you were training to become a professional athlete for example.....

....You wouldn't want to have 10, 20, 30 different coaches shouting at you
telling you what to do would you?

    Is this making sense now?

All the best and good luck,

    Gavin

To be fair, most marketers/coaches launch product after product, and aren't averse to pitching affiliate products to their customers.

OP: I'm not sure there is a way to shake off SOS. It's probably just an epiphany you need to come to at some point in your journey (and most of us do, eventually). You could try something radical like unsubscribing from every IM list, setting yourself a one month goal for building/writing/launching a blog or product, and check off goals every week. But that will take some cold, cold discipline.

I so agree with you, I made the same mistake and kept going in circles. A new best product every week and it's all rehashed content.

In all honesty - I used to be like that.

I think we've all been there at one point.

I found from personal experience, that once you STOP looking for the next best thing and just work your ass off at one thing - whether that be affiliate marketing, brokering, list building, whatever.

You'll begin to develop the work ethic you need to achieve your goals in business, and will no longer be looking at WSO's etc from a consumer mindset but instead from a marketers mindset (how they brand themselves, how they market, the sales copy).

Hope this helps you out a little bit bro!

Totally agree. STOP looking for the next best thing and just work your ass off at one thing. That's the best advice I think I ever heard.

You should look at this a little differently i think.

It's not really a syndrome, it's not knowing how to have a proper foundation to make money.

Making money online is fairly simply:
-> You have a high quality sales funnel
-> You send targeted traffic to that sales funnel
-> You test and tweak to increase your conversions

If you know that then the shiny object syndrome can actually help you, because there's always new ideas, new methods that will help you with any of these steps.

It's ALL about having your own vision, and then
you go shopping for what need to make it happen.

Shiny Object Syndrome is a band-aid to put on
    "I don't know what the f- *I* want."

Until you have a clear vision keep your cash.

Make your brain do the work it needs to do.

This is what it comes down to in most cases.

People with no aptitude, training or experience. Learn at least the basics before you try to get rich.

I congratulate you, at least you're taking the first important step. Admitting you have a problem. That's more than a lot of I.Mer's would have the nerve to do, especially announcing it to others on a forum like this.

For whatever reason, some people get a kick out of skewering people who make mistakes, even the same ones they probably made as a newbie.

Hopefully you can steer yourself out of it before you end up broke, with a ton of programs, ebooks and software on your hard-drive.

You might want to go "Cold Turkey" until you get control of yourself. Part of the key is to be so busy planning, working and executing your plan - you don't have time to look at the next great program.

Right now you just have too much time on your hands - get busy or busier!

If "shiny syndrome" is about learning new tactics, then it is something I will continue to do, the more I know the better. Internet marketing is always evolving, you need to learn otherwise your skills will become redundant.

We all know of people who used to make a lot of money in Internet marketing but now make nothing, because the methods they used to use have became obsolete. Don't let that happen to you.

You don't need to buy WSO's to learn, you can learn from plenty of sources. If you don't spend at least 25% of your time learning new things and doing competitor intelligence you are irresponsible and are putting your business in jeopardy.

If you are not making money online, it is not because you are learning new things. Learning is an essential and vital process, if you want to be competitive.

Thanks for the advice and comments. Yes I am shaking it off. Have not bought for a while. Now focusing on that one thing. I watched Frank Kern's video on a seminar he was conducting. He mentioned about shifting from a buyer's mindset to a seller's mindset. It opened up my mind.

I find myself doing that too, I'll go to bed at night and think to myself I'm going to work really hard tomorrow, then come the next night I think to myself.... Damn I spent about 12 hours at the PC & barely managed to get anything done.

Just like I am now sat writing this post when I've got about a million things to do... doh.

The best way to make money online is to give yourself no other option, you'll soon see how easy it becomes then. I used to work as an electrician in 2012 and I hated my job. At the time I wasn't making a penny online & had never even ventured into online marketing. My savings were starting to run out really quick and I needed money to pay the bills... 6 months later I was having £200 days and earning over 6 times I did as an electrician.

Work for it like you need it.

I was warned about "shiny object syndrome" after I had spent a certain amount of time online. I understood what the warning was about and how it easy it was/is to get distracted.

Distractions kill focus which kills productivity which kills your ability to provide value to people and ultimately kills your business.

There are so many options online and everybody screaming how their offer is the best thing you have ever seen that it takes a massive amount of discipline to not get pulled into the new offer right away.

"Shiny Object Syndrome" is something you have to discipline yourself against.

Trying new things is not bad. It's necessary. But you still have to go back and focus on whatever your bread and butter is so you can make money.

Once you are making money, you can give another product a shot and see if you make money with it, but don't ever let the thing that has been working for you suffer.

I have an idea that everybody online, the ultra successful and the less successful, will at least look at a new offer. The most successful will know when to walk away, and when to incorporate a new offer into their funnel to their list.

A new product offer has to be inline with what your brand is online. Otherwise your reputation takes a ding. You don't want that to happen.

I hope this helps you a little bit. We all struggle with it, I promise you.

Hire a good coach/mentor. And by "good" I mean someone who can be trusted, does not run away with your money, and who REALLY KNOWS what he/she is going to teach you. Invest all your money into the coaching/mentoring program instead of buying WSOs.

Follow everything that your coach/mentor teaches you and before you realize it, you'll be making some decent income with whatever you learn and implement from the coaching/mentoring.

Easy. Stop buying info and start taking action.

This "shiny object syndrome" thing is a silly buzz phrase that keeps people from actually doing something because they can lean on it as an excuse to not do anything. "oh, I can't do anything because I have shiny object syndrome and keep buying stuff" is NOT a valid reason to not be productive. It's a lie that people tell themselves to avoid facing the fact that they don't really want to do what it takes to get things done...for whatever reason.

The truthful way to say it would be, "I keep buying things to trick myself into thinking I'm doing something by buying things so I don't actually have to do the hard stuff."

I have a friend who has been doing this for the last 13 months, since he started trying to work online. Because he won't take action he is in the same exact situation he was in when he started. No growth, no added income, only his theories of how to do things based on ebooks he has read which are based on people trying to sell things to people like him.

It's 1000 times easier to get gratification from clicking a buy button than to roll up your sleeves and spend hours and hours and hours/days and days and days/months and months and months figuring out how to do something or working toward something. Buying things are necessary, but not if you're not doing anything.Information without action is useless.

You are probably seeing headlines that say something like: Wait before you try to seo for a video in 2014 watch this!!! Next thing you know, your watching a video that's 45 mins long telling you that this is the only way to go.

Then you are googling to see product reviews before you buy from someone who ranks number one for whatever the name of that product is....

At this point, if you are not an action taker, these things will continue to happen over and over. How do you stop this??? I'd say if your accounts are looking dry in terms of earnings, use that as fuel.

Look at how many clicks you got! And how much money was made. Do this everyday. Then look at how much you spent on some new launch. Now think well someone else just got paid. How can I be like that person?

Yes shake off the shiny object syndrome but then what?

Stop up believing in Fairies, Leprechauns, and Santa Claus?

Next thing you'll be recommending everyone go to work marketing real products and services.

People don't want to buy real products and services when there are so many shiny magic charms
for sale everywhere you look. They can't all be lying. One of them is bound to work so I don't have to.

Now please excuse me so I can go read the news to see which politician will promise me more stuff so I know who to sell my vote to in the next election.

    Cheers,
    SteveSki
