Transfer Over A Magneto Site To A New Owner

I am getting ready to sell 3 magneto sites in Flippa around the first of the year but I read where there sems to be a thousand steps to do so.

I can barely FTP so for me to do this is a huge undertaking. My question is how easy is it to transfer a Magneto site to a new owner?

If your hosting is using CPanel you can just backup your website files and database and send it to the new owner for them to install or restore at their server.

For the domain name assuming you are using Godaddy or Namecheap you can just push the domain name to the new owner's account.

You can also just hire a tech person to do the transfer.

Thanx I know how to do the domain transfer no problem but when I look online for transfering a Magneto site its a lot more steps then just a backup and file transfer.....That is why I was looking for a Magneto expert to really chime in

Then why wouldn't you seek out a magento forum instead of an IM forum??? I just put "magento forum" into a google search and you will not believe what turned up in the results

This has little to do with Magento specifically - it could be WP or any other CMS. The process of moving it is about the same. You have a database and files. You need to move the files and database, then make sure the CMS connects to the new database instead of the old one.

Are all 3 of them on the same hosting account? Or does each have their own hosting with nothing else there?

If each is on their own, just change out any passwords and such you don't want someone to access and give them the keys. Tell your hosting provider you've sold the site and the new person is responsible for the billing going forward.

If they're not on their own, contact your hosting company and let them know what you're trying to do. Ask them if they can set up a new account for you and transfer the site in question to that account. Again change all passwords if they're not unique before you get the site moved.

Otherwise, you can just have the db and the directory compressed into an archive and give it to the other person - depending on what they prefer with this. When you sell it is not your responsibility to install it on their server. Having them just take over your domain and hosting account is a really quick way and it's working on your server so you have less chance of support issues coming up.

Thanx for the suggestions. They are on the same host (baby gator account) So I will look at compressing the files and database once that time comes. I just kinda heard stories with magneto being harder to transfer the wordpress.
